11. Aspects on Chronic Venous Disease of the Lower Limb
Sammanfattning : Controversies exist regarding both what is required for a proper diagnosis of chronic venous disease (CVD), and what treatment to offer patients. An objective evaluation is mandatory to individualize treatment. LÄS MER
12. Augmentation of vital organ blood flow during experimental cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Sammanfattning : Clinical outcome from cardiac arrest remains poor. If the time from arrest to restoration of spontaneous circulation can be shortened and resuscitation techniques improved so that higher blood flow and oxygen delivery to vital organs is achieved, it is possible that the outcome from cardiac arrest could improve. 13. NMR Imaging of Flow and Perfusion using Hyperpolarized Nuclei: Theoretical Considerations and Application to Experimental Models
Sammanfattning : In the studies presented in this thesis, hyperpolarized tracers have been used for the study of macroscopic flow and capillary perfusion with magnetic resonance imaging. The feasibility of performing vascular studies using echo-planar imaging (EPI) and hyperpolarized 129Xe was investigated using xenon dissolved in ethanol prior to injection into a flow phantom. 14. The venous circulation in teleost fish -responses to exercise, temperature and hypoxia
Sammanfattning : Sandblom, Erik (2007). The venous circulation in teleost fish -Responses to exercise, temperature and hypoxia. Department of Zoology/Zoophysiology, Göteborg University, Box 463, SE-405 30 Göteborg, Sweden. In fish and other vertebrates, venous capacitance changes have important implications on venous return and cardiac filling pressure. LÄS MER
15. Lower limb venous incompetence and the effect of radiofrequency ablation versus open surgery : Focus on haemodynamics, quality of life and health economic aspects
Sammanfattning : Chronic venous incompetence (CVI) is a common condition, and varicose vein treatment is one of the most-common surgical procedures performed worldwide. Common symptoms of CVI are pain, cramps, itching, feeling of leg heaviness and venous claudication. Advanced CVI can lead to skin changes, eczema and venous ulcers. LÄS MER
