    Sammanfattning : An opportunistic network is formed by co-located mobile users in order to exchange data via direct wireless links when their devices are within transmission range, without relying on the use of fixed network infrastructure. In this thesis we investigate the capabilities of opportunistic networks and cover two main areas: data-driven modeling of user mobility and analytic performance evaluation of location-aware opportunistic content distribution.     Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis is to further develop numerical methods for solving surface problems by utilizing tangential calculus and the trace finite element method. Direct computation on the surface is possible by the use of tangential calculus, in contrast to the classical approach of mapping 2D parametric surfaces to 3D surfaces by means of differential geometry operators.
