  1. 1. In search of a biosensor for DNT detection : Studies of inducer response and specificity of DntR

    Författare :Rosa Lönneborg; Peter Brzezinski; Ray Dixon; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DntR; transcriptional regulation; gfp; nitro-aromatic compounds; LysR family; LTTR; TNT; DNT; FACS; directed evolution; random mutagenesis; recombination; structure determination; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The primary aim of the work presented in this thesis was to change the inducer specificity of the DntR protein in order to improve the response to DNT. The long-term goal is to use this protein in a biosensor for DNT, a signature compound for detection of the explosive TNT. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Road surface characterization using near infrared spectroscopy

    Författare :Johan Casselgren; Matti Kutila; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Spektroskopi; Väglagsklassificering; Friktion; Väglagskarakterisering; Experimental Mechanics; Experimentell mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a technology and method for classifying and characterizing different road conditions such as dry asphalt and asphalt covered with water, ice and snow. The method uses light sources of different wavelengths to illuminate the road surface and a detector to measure the reflected light from the road surfaces, dependent on how the surface have absorbed, scattered and polarized the light it is possible to classify the road condition. 3. 3. Early Information Processing in the Vertebrate Olfactory System : A Computational Study

    Författare :Malin Sandström; Anders Lansner; Dominique Martinez; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; olfaction; olfactory system; olfactory bulb; synchronisation; CaMKII; mathematical modelling; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The olfactory system is believed to be the oldest sensory system. It developed to detect and analyse chemical information in the form of odours, and its organisation follows the same principles in almost all living animals - insects as well as mammals. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Computational Modelling of Early Olfactory Processing

    Författare :Malin Sandström; Anders Lansner; Jeanette Hällgren Kotaleski; Thomas Nowotny; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; olfaction; olfactory system; olfactory bulb; olfactory receptor neuron; synchronization; CaMKII; mathematical modelling; lukt; luktsystemet; luktbulben; synkronisering; CaMKII; matematisk modellering; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Chemical sensing is believed to be the oldest sensory ability. The chemical senses, olfaction and gustation, developed to detect and analyze information in the form of air- or waterborne chemicals, to find food and mates, and to avoid danger. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Development of adenoviral vectors for monitoring telomerase activity in living cells

    Författare :Anna Edqvist; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cytogenetics; Genetics; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; GBM; HSC; adenovirus; hTERT; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Telomerase activity is a potential molecular marker for cancer and primitive cells in regenerative tissues. The most commonly used method to measure telomerase activity in cells is the telomerase reverse amplification protocol (TRAP) assay, where the protein extracts derived from homogenized cells are analysed.
