6. The Role of Matrix Metalloproteinases in Leukocyte Transmigration in Murine Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis
Sammanfattning : Murine experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) is a commonly used model in the investigation of the human disease multiple sclerosis (MS), a debilitating inflammatory disease of the central nervous system (CNS). MS and EAE involve multiple steps, primarily, auto-antigenic leukocyte (mainly T-cells and macrophages) crossing the blood-brain barrier and later their invasion into the CNS where they degrade myelin basic protein, eventually resulting in axonal degradation and CNS inflammation. 7. Leukocyte transmigration and gene expression in healthy subjects and patients with renal failure-application of the skin chamber technique
Sammanfattning : The migration of leukocytes from the peripheral circulation into infected or injured tissue is a fundamental step in the host-defense mechanism. The skin chamber technique is a well documented method for studies of leukocyte trans migration and function in vivo. LÄS MER
8. The biological mechanisms in neutrophil and eosinophil adhesion and transmigration in vitro and theur relation to the inflammatory process in vivo
Sammanfattning : In inflammatory reactions, eosinophils and neutrophils constitute the major classes of granulocytes that emigrate from the bloodstream into the tissues. The recruitment of inflammatory cells constitutes a multi-step process that includes sequential adhesion and transmigration through, the endothelial lining, the underlying basement membrane and a variety of extracellular matrix components. 9. Matrix metalloproteinases in natural killer cells. Expression of MMPs, IL-2 activation and killer cell interactions with Matrigel® and model tumours
Sammanfattning : Introduction: IL-2 activated natural killer (A-NK) cells can recognize malignant cells and exert tumouricidal activities by multiple mechanisms that require close contact with the target cells. Upon adoptive transfer, some A-NK cells accumulate in tumours by migrating from the vascular bed to a position inside the malignant tissue, forming close contacts with target cells. LÄS MER
10. Role of adhesion molecules and chemokines in TNF-alpha-induced leukocyte recruitment
Sammanfattning : Migration of leukocytes from the circulating blood into the extravascular tissue is a key component in inflammatory reactions. Leukocyte extravasation (rolling-activation-adhesion-transmigration) is strictly coordinated by adhesion molecules and chemokines expressed on cell surfaces and in tissues. LÄS MER
