21. Neutrophil recruitment in H. pylori induced inflammation: characterization of regulatory factors
Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium colonizing the human gastric mucosa, is strongly associatedwith the development of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as gastric, adenocarcinoma.Virtually all infected individuals develop active chronic gastritis characterized by a continousinfiltration of neutrophils as well as mononuclear cells. 22. Pro- and anti-inflammatory regulation of β2 integrin signalling in human neutrophils
Sammanfattning : The body is under constant attack from pathogens trying to slip by our immune defence. If the barrier is breached, invading pathogens enter the tissues and cause inflammation. During this process neutrophils, constituting the first line of defence, leave the bloodstream and seek out and kill the invading pathogens. LÄS MER
23. Role of mast cell-derived mediators for leukocyte / endothelium-interactions and microvascular mechanisms in inflammation and in anaphylaxis
Sammanfattning : The overall objective of this thesis was to study the roles of mast cell-derived mediators for leukocyte/endothelium interactions and microvascular mechanisms in inflammation and in anaphylaxis, using mast cell-deficient Ws/Ws rats and their wild-type +/+ littermates. The efflux of endogenous histamine and edema formation evoked by subplantar injection of compound 48/80 in rat hind-paws was dose-dependent in +/+ rats, and was essentially lacking in Ws/Ws rats. 24. Characterization of the cellular receptor for coxsackievirus and adenovirus
Sammanfattning : CAR, the cellular receptor for coxsackievirus and adenovirus, was discovered in 1997. CAR is an evolutionary conserved transmembrane protein that belongs to the CTX subfamily within the large immunoglobulin superfamily. At the intracellular tail, CAR has a PDZ domain binding motif suggesting that CAR is part of a larger protein complex. LÄS MER
25. Herpesvirus-induced glycans: Selectin ligands and related structures on the surface of the infected cell
Sammanfattning : Human herpesviruses are usually acquired early in life and are widely distributed in the population. A common feature of all human herpesviruses is that they persist in the host after the primary infection. LÄS MER
