  1. 11. Power from the Brave New Ocean - Marine Renewable Energy and Ecological Risks

    Författare :Linus Hammar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stereo-video; OTEC; Environmental impact; Ocean thermal energy conversion; Fish; Ecological risk assessment; Wave power; Tidal power; Offshore wind power; Ocean energy;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis address ecological risks associated with the possible growth of marine renewable energy. Tidal power, wave power, ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) and currently expanding offshore wind power are likely to become common components of future seascapes. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Dynamic Rating of Power Lines and Transformers for Wind Energy Integration

    Författare :Kateryna Morozovska; Patrik Hilber; Rajeev Thottappillil; Rebei Bel Fdhila; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; dynamic line rating; dynamic transformer rating; power transformers; heat balance; thermal modeling; wind power; wind energy integration; reliability analysis; risk analysis; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Dynamic Rating (DR) is usually associated with unlocking the capacity of power lines and transformers using available information on weather conditions. Our studies show that Dynamic Rating is a broad concept that requires further study and development. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Electro-thermal simulations and measurements of silicon carbide power transistors

    Författare :Wei Liu; Carl-Mikael Zetterling; Nicholas G. Wright; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; silicon carbide; power device; metal semiconductor field-effect transistor; bipolar junction transistor; electro-thermal simulation; Elektronik; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Sammanfattning : The temperature dependent electrical characteristics of silicon carbide power transistors – 4H-SiC metal semiconductor field-effect transistors (MESFETs) and 4H-SiC bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) have been investigated through simulation and experimental approaches. Junction temperatures and temperature distributions in devices under large power densities have been estimated. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Balancing variable renewable electricity generation using combined heat and power plants, large-scale heat pumps, and thermal energy storages in Swedish district heating systems

    Författare :Svante Monie; Magnus Åberg; Annica Nilsson; Joakim Widén; Magnus Wallén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; District heating systems; Power-to-Heat; Heat pumps; Combined heat and power; Thermal energy storage; Power balance; Variable renewable electricity; Biomass fuel; Engineering Science with specialization in Civil Engineering and Built Environment; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot byggteknik och byggd miljö;

    Sammanfattning : The global ambitions to hamper the greenhouse effect has led to ambitious targets for increasing renewable energy use. This, in combination with recent years' vast development of wind and solar power, implies that there will be significant amounts of variable renewable electricity (VRE) in future energy systems.
