2. Perspectives on Assessment in Introductory Computer Science Courses : Exploring and Comparing Experiences of Students, Teaching Assistants, and Course Coordinators
Sammanfattning : Assessments of students' performances, including providing the students with feedback, are central parts of course design in higher education. These assessments can be carried out in different ways and with different purposes. LÄS MER
3. MEMS Interfaces for Bioanalysis Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with various aspects of using open microfluidic interfaces. Three specific areas of application are studied. The first is air-to-liquid interfacing in biosensors with possibilities for component integration. A micromachined interface for airborne sample-to-liquid and droplet-to-liquid adsorption is discussed. LÄS MER
4. Acoustic Forces in Cytometry and Biomedical Applications: Multidimensional Acoustophoresis
Sammanfattning : Over the last decades the ongoing work in the fields of Lab-on-a-Chip and Micro-Total-Analysis-Systems has led to the discovery of new or improved ways to handle and analyse small volumes of biofluids and complex biosuspensions. The benefits of working on the microscale include: miniaturization of the analysis systems with less need for large sample volumes; temporal and spatial control of suspended particle/cell positions; low volume sheath flow lamination or mixing; novel separation techniques by using forces inherent to the microscale domain; precise regulation of sample temperatures and rapid analysis with less volumes needed to be processed. 5. On acoustic particle and cell manipulation in microfluidic systems
Sammanfattning : The combination of laminar flows in microfabricated channels and acoustic forces induced in ultrasonic standing wave fields offers new possibilities for advanced particle and cell manipulation in lab-on-a-chip applications as well as in relatively high throughput applications. Acoustic particle manipulation systems can be used e.g. LÄS MER
