  1. 1. Acoustic Forces in Cytometry and Biomedical Applications: Multidimensional Acoustophoresis

    Författare :Carl Grenvall; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Acoustophoresis; Microfluidics; Ultrasound; Multinode; Cell Sorting; Particle Positioning; Cytometry; Lab-on-a-Chip; µTAS; Binary Separation; Acoustic Barriers; Acoustic Particle Manipulation; Acoustic Standing Waves; Blood Separation; Milk Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Over the last decades the ongoing work in the fields of Lab-on-a-Chip and Micro-Total-Analysis-Systems has led to the discovery of new or improved ways to handle and analyse small volumes of biofluids and complex biosuspensions. The benefits of working on the microscale include: miniaturization of the analysis systems with less need for large sample volumes; temporal and spatial control of suspended particle/cell positions; low volume sheath flow lamination or mixing; novel separation techniques by using forces inherent to the microscale domain; precise regulation of sample temperatures and rapid analysis with less volumes needed to be processed. 2. 2. Graded index sonic crystal noise barriers: An introduction to design and optimization

    Författare :Bart van der Aa; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Shape optimal design; Broadband acoustic lens; Optimization; Outdoor sound propagation; Sonic crystal noise barrier; Graded index sonic crystal;

    Sammanfattning : Environmental noise pollution and its impact on human beings remains to be an important topic in acoustics. Conservative estimations of the World Health Organization have shown that traffic related noise alone causes a loss of approximately one million healthy life years, only within Western Europe. 3. 3. Road traffic noise reduction by multiple scattering and absorption mechanisms

    Författare :Bart van der Aa; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Outdoor sound propagation; Sonic crystals; Road traffic noise; FDTD; Noise barriers; MST; Porous materials; 2.5D MST; Graded index sonic crystals;

    Sammanfattning : Millions of people in Europe, and even more on a global scale, are affected by environ- mental noise. Traffic related noise is estimated to cause a yearly loss of approximately one million healthy life years in Western Europe, which is mostly related to road traffic noise. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Influence of Atmospheric Turbulence on Barrier Sound Reduction

    Författare :Jens Forssén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; traffic noise; barrier; measurements; turbulence; scattering cross-section; substitute sources; outdoor sound propagation; parabolic equation method; random media; numerical modelling;

    Sammanfattning : Numerical modelling and measurements are used for studying the reduced performance of a noise barrier, caused by a turbulent atmosphere. The turbulence scatters the sound, which leads to an increased noise level in the acoustic shadow region behind the barrier. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Background road traffic noise synthesis

    Författare :Georgios Zachos; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; background traffic noise synthesis; auralisation; urban sound planning;

    Sammanfattning : As urban planning evolves along with societal life, new requirements that should be met are rising. One of those, is the inclusion of acoustic quality in urban environments, before, during, or after a planning process. To address this for a yet to be built area, metrics are needed that try to quantify acoustic quality. LÄS MER
