2. Multiscale modelling of total pressure effects on complete methane oxidation over Pd/Al2O3
Sammanfattning : The models used in heterogeneous catalysis are becoming more advanced and the literature shows an increased interest in incorporating the atomistic scale into microkinetics. Coupling kinetics based on first-principles calculations to macroscopic effects can pave the way towards more comprehensive modelling methods and to tailored catalyst designs. LÄS MER
3. Iron Based Materials for Positive Electrodes in Li-ion Batteries : Electrode Dynamics, Electronic Changes, Structural Transformations
Sammanfattning : Li-ion battery technology is currently the most efficient form of electrochemical energy storage. The commercialization of Li-ion batteries in the early 1990’s revolutionized the portable electronics market, but further improvements are necessary for applications in electric vehicles and load levelling of the electric grid. 4. Electron Microscopy Investigation of Detailed Microstructures of CVD TiAlN and TiN Coatings - Effects of Gas Flow and Substrate on Coating Microstructure
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains studies of topics of relevance to increase the understanding of TiN and TiAlN coatings synthesized by chemical vapour deposition (CVD) and low pressure CVD (LPCVD), respectively. This work contains two parts: (i) nanolamella LPCVD TiAlN coatings that were found to show a spatial variation of their chemical composition and microstructure, which was influenced by the gas flow speed of reactants; (ii) microstructure of CVD TiN coating deposited onto a CoCrFeNi multi-principal element alloy (MPEA)substrate. 5. Quantification of mineral weathering rates in sulfidic mine tailings under water-saturated conditions
Sammanfattning : Tailings are a fine-grained waste product produced during the metal recovery process. Tailings consist mostly of different silicates but also sulfides (e.g. pyrite), since 100 % metal recovery is not possible. LÄS MER
