1. Si negative electrodes for Li-ion batteries : Aging mechanism studies by electrochemistry and photoelectron spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focusing on the challenges when using Si as a possible new negative electrode material in Li-ion batteries. The overall aim is to contribute to a general understanding of the processes in the Si electrode, to identify aging mechanisms, and to evaluate how they influence the cycling performance. LÄS MER
2. Fundamental investigations and applications of microelectrode based detections in flowing solutions
Sammanfattning : The influence of diffusional, migrational and convective mass transport at microelectrodes employed for voltammetric and amperometric detection in flowing solutions has been investigated. Special attention was paid to the influence of convection on the IR drop in organic solvents and on the transport of reaction products between individual electrode bands of microarray electrodes. 3. Imaging surface plasmon resonance
Sammanfattning : The central theme of this thesis is the use of imaging Surface Plasmon Resonance (iSPR) as a tool in the characterization of surfaces with laterally varying properties. Within the scope of this work, an instrument for iSPR analysis was designed and built. LÄS MER
4. Iron based Li-ion insertion materials for battery applications
Sammanfattning : Li-ion batteries are currently the most efficient technology available for electrochemical energy storage. The technology has revolutionized the portable electronics market and is becoming a corner stone for large scale applications, such as electric vehicles. LÄS MER
5. Iron Based Materials for Positive Electrodes in Li-ion Batteries : Electrode Dynamics, Electronic Changes, Structural Transformations
Sammanfattning : Li-ion battery technology is currently the most efficient form of electrochemical energy storage. The commercialization of Li-ion batteries in the early 1990’s revolutionized the portable electronics market, but further improvements are necessary for applications in electric vehicles and load levelling of the electric grid.
