11. Molecular Genetic and DNA Methylation Profiling of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia : A Focus on Divergent Prognostic Subgroups and Subsets
Sammanfattning : Advancements in prognostication have improved the subdivision of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) into diverse prognostic subgroups. In CLL, IGHV unmutated and IGHV3-21 genes are associated with a poor-prognosis, conversely, IGHV mutated genes with a favourable outcome. LÄS MER
12. T cell subsets and disease mechanisms in inflammatory myopathies
Sammanfattning : The idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs) are a heterogeneous group of chronic muscle disorders, typically displaying infiltrating T cells in skeletal muscle tissue and classified into polymyositis, dermatomyositis and sporadic inclusion body myositis. Several studies involving both humans and animal models point towards a role for T cells in the pathogenesis of IIMs, however, the precise phenotype, functionality and specificity of pathogenic T cells remain elusive. 14. Combining analytical and iterative reconstruction in helical cone-beam CT
Sammanfattning : Contemporary algorithms employed for reconstruction of 3D volumes from helical cone beam projections are so called non-exact algorithms. This means that the reconstructed volumes contain artifacts irrespective of the detector resolution and number of projection angles employed in the process. LÄS MER
15. Prognostic markers and DNA methylation profiling in lymphoid malignancies
Sammanfattning : In recent years, great progress has been achieved towards identifying novel biomarkers in lymphoid malignancies, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), at the genomic, transcriptomic and epigenomic level for accurate risk-stratification and prediction of treatment response. In paper I, we validated the prognostic relevance of a recently proposed RNA-based marker in CLL, UGT2B17, and analyzed its expression levels in 253 early-stage patients. LÄS MER
