  1. 16. Natural killer T cell subsets and regulation of autoimmune diabetes

    Författare :Martin Stenström; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; serology; transplantation; CD1d; NKT cells; Immunology; autoimmune diabetes; serologi; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on natural killer (NK) T cells. NKT cells recognize lipids and glycolipids, rather than peptides, in the contents of the antigen presenting molecule CD1d. LÄS MER

  2. 17. The Immune System in the Oldest-Old : Clinical and Immunological Studies in the NONA Immune Cohort

    Författare :Bengt-Olof Nilsson; Jan Ernerudh; Anders Wikby; Sture Löfgren; Karlis Pauksens; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Elderly; selection; health status; lymphocyte subsets; CD8; CMV; cytomegalovirus; immune risk; immune risk phenotype; IRP; T-cells; interleukin 6; IL-6; survival; mortality; antinuclear antibodies; ANA; ageing; immunosenescence; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The oldest-old (people aged 80 or older) constituted 5 % of the population in Sweden in 2000, an increase from 1.5 % fifty years earlier. The immune system undergoes dramatic changes at high age, sometimes referred to as “immunosenescence”. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Regulatory T cells in rheumatoid arthritis : contributions from different functional subsets

    Författare :Jessica Alexandra Herrath; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a complex and multifactorial disease characterized by chronic joint inflammation and tissue destruction, which can affect all ethnic groups with a prevalence of 0.5-1%. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Function and Regulation of B-cell Subsets in Experimental Autoimmune Arthritis

    Författare :Anna-Karin E. Palm; Sandra Kleinau; Susanna Cardell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; B cells; marginal zone; autoimmune arthritis; spleen; lymph node; antigen presentation; Fc gamma receptor IIb; complement receptors 1 and 2; mast cells; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär immunologi; Biology with specialization in Molecular Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : B lymphocytes play a significant role in autoimmune arthritis, with their function stretching beyond autoantibody production to cytokine secretion and presentation of autoantigen. However, the involvement and activation of different B-cell subset in the autoimmune response is not fully clear. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Invariant T cell subsets in immune defense of oral mucosa and skin

    Författare :Michał J Sobkowiak; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Innate-like T lymphocytes such as mucosa-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells and invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells recognize antigens presented by MR1 and CD1d molecules, respectively. As MR1 presents microbial riboflavin metabolite antigens, and CD1d presents endogenous or microbial glycolipid antigens, MAIT cells and iNKT cells survey the non-protein fraction of the potential antigenic universe.
