31. Multiphoton Microscopy Targeting Tissue Development. Towards the real-time imaging of epidermal differentiation
Sammanfattning : The development of novel organ-on-a-chip models calls for methodologies, which will allow the study of tissue development and pharmacological outcome in real-time. Multiphoton microscopy (MPM) has been proposed as a suitable technique for noninvasive imaging of live specimens, utilizing intrinsic tissue fluorescence. LÄS MER
32. Multi-spectral analysis of fine scale aurora
Sammanfattning : The Aurora Borealis is the visible manifestation of the complex plasma interaction between the solar wind and the Earth's magnetosphere and ionosphere. Ground based and in situ measurements demonstrate a prevalence of dynamic fine structure within auroral displays, with spatial scales down to tens of metres and time variations occurring on a fraction of a second. 33. Characterization and Optimization of Silicon-strip Detectors for Mammography and Computed Tomography
Sammanfattning : The goal in medical x-ray imaging is to obtain the image quality requiredfor a given detection task, while ensuring that the patient dose is kept as lowas reasonably achievable. The two most common strategies for dose reductionare: optimizing incident x-ray beams and utilizing energy informationof transmitted beams with new detector techniques (spectral imaging). LÄS MER
34. Towards Undistorted Fluorescence for Tissue Diagnostics and Therapy Monitoring
Sammanfattning : Fluorescence techniques for applications in tissue diagnostics and therapy monitoring were investigated and developed in the work presented in this thesis. The aim was to develop fluorescence diagnostics for the detection of malignant tumors and better delimitation of the tumor margins, using the enhanced contrast in fluorescence between tumor and surrounding healthy tissue. 35. Laser Scanning Multiphoton Microscopy – Focusing on Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy and Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging for Biomedical Applications
Sammanfattning : Laser scanning multiphoton microscopy (MPM) is considered as a non-invasive technology for three-dimensional imaging of complex biological tissues. The quantitative potential of the MPM is not investigated as much as qualitative imaging. LÄS MER
