  1. 6. Optical investigations and characterization of soot of different morphology and maturity

    Författare :Sandra Török; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser-induced incandescence; Extinction; Elastic light scattering; mini-CAST; Soot; Brown carbon; Black carbon; Maturity; Morphology; Fysicumarkivet A:2021:Török;

    Sammanfattning : The formation path from small poorly absorbing incipient soot to larger fractal-like strongly absorbing black soot is extensive, and along this path the optical and physicochemical properties of the soot evolve. Soot emitted into the atmosphere may originate from some stage of this process, which will result in a wide spectrum of carbonaceous aerosols in the atmosphere which may interact with the sun and influence the radiative balance of the earth. 2. 7. Ice out of Fire : Ice and cloud condensation nucleation of aerosol particles emitted from controlled soot generation and combustion of renewable fuels

    Författare :John Falk; MERGE: ModElling the Regional and Global Earth system; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Soot; BC; Immersion freezing; IN; INP; CCN; SPIN; CCNC; MiniCAST; Cold Stage; Cook Stove;

    Sammanfattning : Aerosol particles, small solid or liquid particles suspended in a gas, are found everywhere in the atmosphere. Air pollution from such particles, mainly soot from combustion-derived activity is a leading cause of premature deaths in the world and have a large effect on the climate. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Physicochemical properties and atmospheric ageing of soot - investigated though aerosol mass spectrometry

    Författare :Axel Eriksson; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Black carbon; soot; vehicle exhausts; wood stove emissions; atmospheric processing; SP-AMS;

    Sammanfattning : Aerosol particles contribute significantly to the global burden of disease, and remain the main source of uncertainty in assessments of human-induced climate change. The microphysical characterization of particles is necessary to understand the roles they play in the detrimental effects of air pollution on human health, and in the energy budget of our planet. 4. 9. Characteristics of Particulate Emissions from Low Temperature Combustion and Renewable Fuels : Aerosol Mass Spectrometry of Refractory Carbonaceous Particles

    Författare :Vilhelm Malmborg; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Emissions; Soot; BC; BrC; ROS; SP-AMS; MiniCAST; Diesel Engine; HVO; RME; Cook Stove; Emissions; Soot; BC; BrC; SP-AMS; ROS; MiniCAST; Diesel Engine; HVO; RME; Cook Stove;

    Sammanfattning : Particulate air pollution is one of the major causes of premature death in the world, and combustion-derived soot emissions contribute strongly to the particulate pollution to which humans are exposed. Black carbon (BC) is one such emission and denotes soot with strong light absorption in the ultraviolet to infrared spectrum. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Late Cycle Soot Oxidation in Diesel Engines

    Författare :Yann Gallo; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Soot oxidation; Laser extinction; Optical diagnostics; Diesel engines; Gas sampling; Particulate matter;

    Sammanfattning : Diesel engines are the most common engine technology used in transportation. Its widespread use comes from its inherent high efficiency and its relative low cost. It suffers from pollutant emission issues, however, that need detailed understanding of their origins to meet the strictest current and upcoming emission standards. LÄS MER
