11. Fishing the gene pool : Genetic structure, admixture and behavioural complexity in fisheries management
Sammanfattning : Prudent management of marine fish resources relies on separation and management of biologically meaningful groups of conspecifics, termed fishery stocks, often depicted as self-sustaining, spatiotemporally separated and demographically independent entities. Such stock discrimination has however proven challenging. LÄS MER
12. Environmental Systems Analysis of Wastewater Management
Sammanfattning : The history of wastewater management tells us that efforts have been made at solving only one problem at the time; sanitation during the first half of the 20th Century followed by eutrophication of lakes and sea and, for the past ten years, recycling of nutrients. After the "Brundtland Report", 1987, a reversal of the debate occurred where water management was discussed in a more holistic manner than before. LÄS MER

14. Household food waste management – Evaluations of current status and potential improvements using life-cycle assessment methodology
Sammanfattning : An increased understanding of the world’s limited resources and the negative environmental impacts connected to solid waste management has in recent years increased interest in separate collection and treatment of organic waste in many parts of the world. As an example, increased biological treatment of organic waste is an explicit goal within the Swedish national solid waste management strategy (SEPA, 2006) and the national environmental objectives state that 35% of all organic household waste should be treated biologically by 2010 (SEPA, 2007). 15. Prerequisites for data sharing in emergency management : joint analysis using a real-time role-playing exercise approach
Sammanfattning : This thesis explains how semi-coordinated or separated utilization of information and communication technologies may affect collaborative work between different emergency management organizations, and their capabilities to perform joint tasks during emergency responses. Another aim is to explore the modeling of emergency management and data collection methods with respect to utilization of these technologies. LÄS MER
