1. Visual Analytics for Explainable and Trustworthy Machine Learning
Sammanfattning : The deployment of artificial intelligence solutions and machine learning research has exploded in popularity in recent years, with numerous types of models proposed to interpret and predict patterns and trends in data from diverse disciplines. However, as the complexity of these models grows, it becomes increasingly difficult for users to evaluate and rely on the model results, since their inner workings are mostly hidden in black boxes, which are difficult to trust in critical decision-making scenarios. 2. Static Visualizations for Dynamic Hierarchies
Sammanfattning : Dynamic hierarchical data describes phenomena in a wide range of domains, from file management to demographics and business administration, as well as feature extraction results in spatial scientific data. As with all data, visualization is an integral step for gaining understanding about dynamic hierarchical data. LÄS MER
3. Modelling, mapping and visualisation of flood inundation uncertainties
Sammanfattning : Flood maps showing extents of predicted flooding for a given extreme event have wide usage in all types of spatial planning tasks, as well as serving as information material for the public. However, the production processes that these maps undergo (including the different data, methods, models and decisions from the persons generating them), which include both Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and hydraulic modelling, affect the map’s content, and will be reflected in the final map. 4. Advancing urban analytics for energy transitions : Data-driven strategic planning for citywide building retrofitting
Sammanfattning : Decarbonisation of the building stock is essential for energy transitions towards climate-neutral cities in Sweden, Europe and globally. Meeting 1. LÄS MER
5. Exploring the Invisible : FINDING STRUCTURE IN SCIENTIFIC DATA
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I present contributions towards the aim of understanding flow-related scientific data sets by communicating relation, properties, and structure. The individual papers are contributions to three different areas. First, real-world visualization challenges with domain specific tasks. LÄS MER
