  1. 11. Risk of pulmonary aspiration during anesthesia and sedation

    Författare :Per Cajander; Johanna Savilampi; Hans Törnblom; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pulmonary aspiration; face-mask ventilation; anesthesia induction; high resolution impedance manometry; procedural sedation; remifentanil; dexmedetomidine; swallowing physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Pulmonary aspiration is a feared complication in anesthesia practice. Even if it is a rare event it is the most common cause of anesthesia related death. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Conditional and non-conditional reward-related responses to alcohol. Nicotinic mechanisms

    Författare :Elin Löf; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ethanol; nicotine; ventral tegmental area; nucleus accumbens; dopamine; nicotinic acetylcholine receptor; gamma-amino-butyric acid receptor A; conditioned reinforcement; in vivo microdialysis; rat;

    Sammanfattning : The mesolimbic dopamine system is believed to mediate the positive reinforcing and rewarding effects of addictive drugs by increasing dopamine levels in its terminal area, the nucleus accumbens (nAc). Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) within this system appear important for the pharmacological actions of both alcohol and nicotine, which may explain the frequent co-abuse of these two drugs. 3. 13. Trauma - logistics and stress response

    Författare :Camilla Brorsson; Silvana Naredi; Anders Sylvan; Per Dahlqvist; Mikael Bodelsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; traumatic brain injury; multiple trauma; hydrocortisone; adrenal insufficiency; hypnotics and sedatives; citric acid; glycerol; saliva; liver; colorectal surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Trauma is a major cause of death and disability. Adverse events, such as prolonged prehospital time, hypoxia, hypotension and/or hyperventilation have been reported to correlate to poor outcome.Adequate cortisol levels are essential for survival after major trauma. 4. 14. Low-Dose Ionizing Radiation Induces Neurotoxicity in the Neonate : Acute or fractionated doses and interaction with xenobiotics in mice

    Författare :Sonja Buratovic; Per Eriksson; Henrik Viberg; Bo Stenerlöw; Anders Fredriksson; Jean-René Jourdain; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ionizing radiation; Neonatal; Neurotoxicity; Behaviour; Nicotine; Ketamine; Mouse; Cognition; Acute irradiation; Fractionated irradiation;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the developmental neurotoxic effects of exposure to low-dose ionizing radiation (IR), alone or together with xenobiotics, during a critical period of neonatal brain development in mice.During mammalian brain development there is a period called the brain growth spurt (BGS), which involves extensive growth and maturation of the brain. 5. 15. Clonidine in paediatric anaesthesia : pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic aspects

    Författare :Henrik T G Bergendahl; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Alpha-2 adreoceptor agonists; anaesthesia; analgesia; bioavailability; clonidine; confusion; dose response; epidural; haemodynamics; intubation tracheal; midazolam; neuropeptide Y; paediatric; pharmacokinetic; postoperative; postoperative vomiting; premedication; sedation; shivering; variability.;

    Sammanfattning : Clonidine is a mixed alpha-2/alpha-1 adrenoceptor agonist. It reduces sympathetic and increases parasympathetic tone which results in a lowering of the baseline blood pressure and heart rate. LÄS MER
