11. 3-D Nautical Charts and Safe Navigation
Sammanfattning : In spite of all electronic navigation devices on a modern ship bridge, navigators still lose their orientation. Reasons for this might be excessive cognitive workload caused by too many instruments to read and compile, navigation information that is displayed in a cognitively demanding way, short decision times due to high speed or fatigue due to minimum manning and long work hours. 13. Studies on eye movements in Parkinson's disease
Sammanfattning : Heterogeneity in Parkinson’s Disease (PD) phenotype and genotype is probably the main reason why, despite the abundance of biomarkers, we still lack a robust method for diagnosis and prognosis, besides clinical evaluation. Subjective changes in vision and objective measures in eye movements have been extensively studied, but the results are mainly used to better understand the pathophysiology of PD and are not integrated into the clinical praxis. 14. Biased Evolution : Causes and Consequences
Sammanfattning : In evolution alternative genetic trajectories can potentially lead to similar phenotypic outcomes. However, certain trajectories are preferred over others. These preferences bias the genomes of living organisms and the underlying processes can be observed in ongoing evolution. LÄS MER
15. Age-related maculopathy and macular degeneration : New diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
Sammanfattning : Age-related maculopathy (ARM) may progress into age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which is often disastrous to near vision and reading. Currently used treatment is generally not successful in a long-term perspective. Therefore, searching for an early detection of functional disturbances as well as for prophylactic treatment appears important. LÄS MER
