11. Radiative Properties and Combustion Chemistry in Oxy-Fuel Flames – Experiments and Modelling Elements
Sammanfattning : The current understanding of global warming translates into an urgent need to reduce anthropogenic CO2 emissions. Carbon capture and storage is a measure to reduce CO2 emissions and oxy-fuel combustion is emerging as one possible CO2 capture process. LÄS MER
12. Earth's albedo in a changing climate
Sammanfattning : The albedo is a key parameter in the radiative budget of the Earth and a primary determinant of the planetary temperature and is therefore also central to questions regarding climate stability, climate change and climate sensitivity. Climate models and satellite observations are essential for studying the albedo, and the parameters determining it, on large spatial and temporal scales. LÄS MER
13. Studies of the nuclear processes of proton capture photon production and spallation neutron emission with advanced experimental techniques
Sammanfattning : A series of nuclear reaction experiments have been performed in the intermediate energy range up to 1.6 GeV using advanced techniques to detect and measure neutral ejectiles resulting mainly from proton bombardment of both light and heavy nuclei. LÄS MER
14. Combustion, Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer in Oxy-fuel and Air-Fired CFB boilers
Sammanfattning : The studies described in this thesis develop and encode modeling tools for the design and scale-up of oxy-fuel circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers across a wide range of operational conditions. The modeling comprises fluid dynamics, combustion, and heat transfer and uses expressions that are proposed in this work or derived from the literature, together with experimental data obtained under both oxy-fuel-fired and air-fired conditions. 15. Heavy particle interference and diffraction in fast electron transfer collisions
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents experimental results from the synchrotron cooler and storage ring CRYRING on charge transfer processes in fast electron transfer collisions using high-resolution cold target recoil-ion momentum spectroscopy. The main focus of these studies was to investigate a key concept of quantum mechanics: the wave-particle duality. LÄS MER
