Sammanfattning : The purpose of the present doctoral thesis was to investigate intellectual functioning and the influence of the children with congenital heart defects in their families. We analyzed how the severity of the heart defect, the child's age, and the socio-economic status of the child's family were related to the intellectual functioning of the children and to the impact on the family. Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to investigate interventions and outcomes in psychiatric inpatient care through the use of assessment scales and database information. 9. Ten-year outcome of anorexia nervosa with teenage onset
Sammanfattning : Objectives: To study prospectively the relatively long-term outcome in a representative sample of teenage onset anorexia nervosa (AN) in respect of overall outcome, physical health, psychiatric disorders, and personality disorders and to investigate familial factors among first-degree relatives. Method: A group of 51 cases (48 female, 3 male) with AN, recruited by community screening (including the total AN population (minus one individual) from one birth cohort), with a mean age of onset of 14 years, was contrasted with an age-, sex-, and school-matched group of 51 comparison cases on various measures of outcome at a mean age of 24 years (10 years after reported AN onset). Sammanfattning : People who misuse alcohol are a heterogeneous group with different etiology, social and clinical characteristics. This thesis includes four studies whose aim was to characterise so called socially stable alcoholics (i.e. individuals with preserved psychosocial functioning) regarding personality, physical and mental health and drinking patterns.
