  1. 6. Cyclin A1 Expression and Regulation in Hematopoietic and Leukemic Cells

    Författare :Jenny Ekberg; Malmö Patologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; General pathology; pathological anatomy; Patologi allmän ; patologisk anatomi; onkologi; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; AML; cyclin A1; apoptosis; cell cycle regulation;

    Sammanfattning : Increased expression of the cell cycle regulatory protein cyclin A1 has previously been detected in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and targeted overexpression of cyclin A1 in a transgenic mouse model initiated AML. The aim of this thesis was to further study the expression and regulation of cyclin A1 in hematopoietic cells. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Systems biology techniques show high prevalence of post-translational regulation in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis PCC 6803

    Författare :Jan Karlsen; Elton Paul Hudson; Martin Hagemann; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :systems biology; sustainable development; omics; ribosome profiling; RNA sequencing; proteomics; genetic engineering; bioproduction; cyanobacteria; gene regulation; metabolism; translational regulation; post-translational regulation; bioinformatics; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : Earth's climate has been upset by carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from human activities and the use of fossil resources. To prevent catastrophic events on the environment and on civilizations, we urgently need to develop alternative solutions that utilize renewable resources. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Endoplasmic Reticulum Dynamic Structural Changes in Neurons: The Fission-Fusion Phenomena

    Författare :Krzysztof Kucharz; Sektion IV; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; fragmentation; fission; endoplasmic reticulum; neurons; FRAP; primary cultures; organotypic slice cultures; in vivo; in situ; calcium; fusion; NMDA receptor; 2-photon microscopy; confocal microscopy;

    Sammanfattning : The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is crucial for protein synthesis and protein maturation, is involved in cell stress and serves in neurons as the major intracellular Ca2+ store. Neuronal ER forms a continuous network of cisterns and tubules extending from soma to a subset of dendritic spines. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Mechanisms of stretch-induced growth and contractile differentiation in vascular smooth muscle

    Författare :Asad Zeidan; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysiologi; Physiology; SM22a; ERK1 2; caveolae; stretch; Smooth muscle; differentiation;

    Sammanfattning : Vascular smooth muscle can adapt to increased intraluminal pressure by remodelling and hypertrophy, as seen in hypertension. The molecular mechanisms responsible for this are still incompletely characterized. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Mechanosensing in the vascular wall - the role of cellular microdomains in vascular remodeling

    Författare :Sebastian Albinsson; Kärlfysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology; tissue culture; Histologi; cytokemi; histokemi; vävnadskultur; cytochemistry; histochemistry; wall stress; shear stress; hypertension; Histology; differentiation; growth; caveolin; smooth muscle; actin; Fysiologi; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : The vascular wall has a remarkable capacity to adapt to mechanical forces exerted by the intraluminal blood pressure and flow. This includes rapid change in contractile tone as well as chronic alteration of vessel structure if the stimulus persists. Stretch of the intact blood vessel wall promotes growth and contractile differentiation. LÄS MER
