21. Reaction Mechanisms and Dynamics in the Early Stage of High-κ Oxide Atomic Layer Deposition : Investigations by In Situ and Operando X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is an outstanding deposition technique to deposit highly conformal and uniform thin films with atomic precision. In particular, ALD of transition metal oxide layers from metal amido complexes and water finds its way in several technological fields, including green energy devices and in the semiconductor industry. 22. BUILDING AN X-RAY PHOTOELECTRON SPECTROSCOPY ENDSTATION FOR OPERANDO STUDIES OF CATALYTIC CO AND CO2 HYDROGENATION REACTIONS
Sammanfattning : X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) provides an element-specific surface sensitive probe of the chemical composition in a system, and is consequently one of the workhorses of surface science and catalysis research. The obtained information on the chemical and physical state of the catalyst and adsorbates is essential in the endeavor to achieve a fundamental understanding how chemical reactions are facilitated by the catalyst. 23. Prussian blue analogue copper hexacyanoferrate : Synthesis, structure characterization and its applications as battery electrode and CO2 adsorbent
Sammanfattning : Prussian blue (PB) and Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) are compounds with potential applications in a large variety of fields such as gas storage, poison antidotes, electrochromism, electrochemistry and molecular magnets. The compounds are easy to synthesize, cheap, environmentally friendly and have been pursued for both fundamental research and industrial purposes. LÄS MER
24. Electrochemical characterization of materials for next generation polymer electrolyte fuel cells
Sammanfattning : Polymer electrolyte fuel cells occupy a key position in implementing the hydrogen economy on a global scale. However, assessments of cost, availability and sustainability of materials currently used to manufacture state-of-the-art fuel cell stacks have given cause for concern. LÄS MER
25. Study of polycrystalline gold surfaces by potential-dependent optical sum frequency generation
Sammanfattning : With the increase in demand for renewable energy, the comprehension of chemical processes is essential to improve the design of catalysts in order to achieve better performance. This thesis summarizes the experimental investigation of redox reactions on polycrystalline gold surfaces by combining electrochemistry with operando surface-specific sum frequency generation (SFG) for a wider anodic potential interval than previously studied in acidic aqueous medium (H3PO4, pH 1).
