31. Numerical Simulations of Flows around Trains and Buses in Cross Winds
Sammanfattning : When cruising in strong winds, ground vehicles can experience strong aerodynamic forces and moments that may increase drag, reduce their stability, generate noise and induce accidents in the case of strong side winds. However, prevention of the unwanted influences of side winds requires that the flow structures around vehicles are fully understood in both the instantaneous and time-averaged flow. LÄS MER
32. Retrieval of equivalent currents by the use of an integral representation and the extinction theorem --- radome applications
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to solve an inverse source problem. The approach is based on an integral representation together with the extinction theorem. Both a scalar and a full-wave integral representation are implemented and solved by a Method of Moment procedure. LÄS MER
33. Evaluation of volatile organic compounds related to board based packaging by use of instrumental and sensory analysis
Sammanfattning : The main topic of the thesis is characterisation and evaluation of volatile organic compounds emitted by packaging materials based on paperboard products. The properties and concentration of these compounds are critical to how well these materials perform when applied as a main component of food packaging. LÄS MER
34. Simulation of track settlement in railway turnouts-An iterative approach
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a methodology for simulation of track settlement in railway turnouts (switches andcrossings, S&C) is presented. The methodology predicts the accumulated settlement for a given setof traffic loads using an iterative and cross-disciplinary procedure. LÄS MER
35. Effects of Inflammatory Mediators on Pulmonary Airways
Sammanfattning : Chronic inflammation is together with excessive contraction of the airways key features of asthma. The aims of the thesis were to analyze the effect of inflammatory mediators on airway smooth muscle, using an in vitro model of cultured murine airways. LÄS MER
