1. Tumor instructed normal tissue : studies of potential extratumoral biomarkers and therapeutic targets in prostate cancer
Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in Sweden and but luckily the majority of the patients will carry on their life without any consequences from the disease. Unfortunately, some will develop aggressive tumors and eventually die. LÄS MER
2. Tissue Perfusion and Oxygenation Evaluated by Measurements of Tissue Gases and pH. An Experiemental Study
Sammanfattning : Optimum peripheral perfusion, oxygenation and oxygen utilization is a prerequisite for normal wound healing, resistance to infection and cardiac function. The purpose of this study was to evaluate peripheral oxygen utilization by measurements of subcutaneous tissue gases and pH (PscO2, PscCO2 and pHsc) in comparison to established techniques for measurements of periph-eral tissue oxygenation and oxygen utilization in experimental animal models with hyperoxia-hypoxia, acidosis-alkalosis and haemorrhage-resuscitation. 3. TINT Tumor Indicating Normal Tissue : new field of diagnostic biomarkers for prostate cancer
Sammanfattning : Background: Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Sweden. Due its highly variable behavior, multifocal nature, and insufficient diagnostic methods, prostate cancer is difficult to diagnose and prognosticate. LÄS MER
4. Evaluation of Myocardial Function in Chronic Kidney Disease : A Colour Tissue Velocity Imaging Study
Sammanfattning : In patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), overhydration, uremic toxins and left ventricular (LV) dyssynchrony are factors that may lead to LV dysfunction and conduction abnormalities and thus contribute to the high cardiac mortality. Colour tissue velocity imaging (TVI) allows a detailed quantitative analysis of cardiac function in CKD patients, opening new possibilities to evaluate longitudinal myocardial motion, rapid isovolumetric events, LV filling pressure and LV synchronicity. 5. Small-Scale Absorbed Dose Modelling in Selective Internal Radiation Therapy : Microsphere Distribution in Normal Liver Tissue
Sammanfattning : Radioembolisation (RE), with yttrium-90 (90Y) labelled microspheres, is an increasingly common treatment method for unresectable liver tumours. The tolerable mean absorbed dose for normal liver (NL) tissue is higher in RE than in External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT); absorbed dose heterogeneity is thought to be one important reason, together with a low absorbed dose rate, but the knowledge of microsphere distributions is limited.
