26. Post-Transcriptional Regulation of the Murine Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase Gene
Sammanfattning : Large amounts of nitric oxide (NO) are produced by the inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) upon inflammatory stimuli. NO is a multifaceted molecule, which may have beneficial effects as an antimicrobial agent in the immune defense, or cytotoxic effects in chronic inflammations, manifested as e.g. arthritis and asthma. 27. Bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis. Studies on classic BPS/IC, ESSIC type 3C, with special reference to the role of nitric oxide
Sammanfattning : Patients presenting with symptoms of Bladder Pain Syndrome (BPS) are challenging to the urologist. Previously known as Interstitial Cystitis (IC), this syndrome has been extensively debated and investigated. IC mainly affects women, only 1 or 2 out of 10 patients are males. LÄS MER
28. Nitric oxide and extravasation in endotoxaemia : an experimental study
Sammanfattning : Background: Despite advances in intensive care the mortality of patients in septic shock is still high. In early stages the condition is characterised by circulatory failure that is a consequence of myocardial depression, vasodilatation with decreased sensitivity to catecholamine stimulation and increased loss of protein and fluid from the circulation. 29. Nitric oxide in tuberculosis and leprosy
Sammanfattning : Tuberculosis (TB) caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is a global disease that kills about two million people each year. Leprosy is caused by Mycobacterium leprae, and primarily affects the skin and peripheral nervous system. LÄS MER
30. Nitric oxide in inflammatory bowel disease
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to study nitric oxide (NO) in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) with a special reference to disease activity and disease location, in bolls an adult and a pediatric patient population, using rectal gas sampling. Furthermore, we investigated the cellular source of the measured NO as well as the relationship between the expression of inducible NO synthase (iNOS) and the proinflammatory TNF-alpha, IL-10 and INF-gamma.
