  1. 26. Post-Transcriptional Regulation of the Murine Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase Gene

    Författare :Malin Söderberg; Matti A. Lang; Françoise Raffalli-Mathieu; Eeva Moilanen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; iNOS; inducible nitric oxide synthase; gene regulation; post-transcriptional; mRNA stability; RNA-protein interactions; dexamethasone; murine; heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein; hnRNPI; hnRNPL; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Pharmaceutical biochemistry; Farmaceutisk biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Large amounts of nitric oxide (NO) are produced by the inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) upon inflammatory stimuli. NO is a multifaceted molecule, which may have beneficial effects as an antimicrobial agent in the immune defense, or cytotoxic effects in chronic inflammations, manifested as e.g. arthritis and asthma. 2. 27. Bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis. Studies on classic BPS/IC, ESSIC type 3C, with special reference to the role of nitric oxide

    Författare :Yr Logadottir; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bladder Pain Syndrome BPS ; Interstitial Cystitis IC ; Nitric Oxide NO ; Nitric Oxide Synthase NOS ; Inflammatory mediators; Interleukin-17; Mast cells;

    Sammanfattning : Patients presenting with symptoms of Bladder Pain Syndrome (BPS) are challenging to the urologist. Previously known as Interstitial Cystitis (IC), this syndrome has been extensively debated and investigated. IC mainly affects women, only 1 or 2 out of 10 patients are males. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Nitric oxide and extravasation in endotoxaemia : an experimental study

    Författare :Kerstin Metcalf; Mikael Bodelsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Despite advances in intensive care the mortality of patients in septic shock is still high. In early stages the condition is characterised by circulatory failure that is a consequence of myocardial depression, vasodilatation with decreased sensitivity to catecholamine stimulation and increased loss of protein and fluid from the circulation. 4. 29. Nitric oxide in tuberculosis and leprosy

    Författare :Thomas Schön; Gilla Kaplan; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Tuberculosis (TB) caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is a global disease that kills about two million people each year. Leprosy is caused by Mycobacterium leprae, and primarily affects the skin and peripheral nervous system. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Nitric oxide in inflammatory bowel disease

    Författare :Tryggve Ljung; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to study nitric oxide (NO) in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) with a special reference to disease activity and disease location, in bolls an adult and a pediatric patient population, using rectal gas sampling. Furthermore, we investigated the cellular source of the measured NO as well as the relationship between the expression of inducible NO synthase (iNOS) and the proinflammatory TNF-alpha, IL-10 and INF-gamma.
