  1. 1. Early identification of motor problems in very preterm infants : An evaluation of the Structured Observation of Motor Performance in Infants

    Författare :Cecilia Montgomery; Lena Hellström-Westas; Kristina Persson; Katarina Strand Brodd; Ann-Christin Eliasson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :motor performance; very preterm infants; movement quality; motor competence; radiology; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi;

    Sammanfattning : Infants born very preterm are at risk of adverse neurodevelopment. It is important to identify motor problems early to initiate interventions aiming at ameliorating outcomes. Evaluating motor development in high-risk infants is a complex task. There is a need for assessment methods for early identification of abnormal motor performance. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Altered movement patterns and deviating muscular activity in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury

    Författare :Anna Trulsson; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Movement pattern; Physiotherapy; Motor control; Sensorimotor control; Neuromuscular control; Anterior cruciate ligament; Muscular activity; Motor skills; Single leg squat; Electromyography EMG ; Postural orientation; Assessment; Task performance; Reproducibility of findings; Performance test; Hop test; knee; dynamic joint stability;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to increase the understanding of altered movement patterns in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in order to improve ACL rehabilitation, and to develop an observational instrument termed Test for Substitution Patterns (TSP) for standardized, quantifiable scoring of altered movement patterns in legs and trunk. In all, 142 participants, 93 with ACL-rupture (37 women) and 49 uninjured participants were investigated. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Reaching for Excellence? : Does training improve motor abilities and cause cascading effects in the visual attention and social perception domain?

    Författare :Linda van den Berg; Gustaf Gredebäck; Pär Nyström; Erik Domellöf; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Early Motor Training; Sticky Mittens; Infants; Motor Development; Reaching; Grasping; Social Perception; Visual Attention; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : claimed in the last 20 years. Being able to reach for objects provides infants with an interactive interface with their environment. After reach onset, objects can be explored closer to the face and manipulated. Social perception abilities and visual attention have both been found to relate to motor development. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Motor control of the knee : kinematic and EMG studies of healthy individuals and people with patellofemoral pain

    Författare :Ann-Katrin Stensdotter; Charlotte Häger-Ross; Gunnevi Sundelin; Gertjan Ettema; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kinematics; Kinetic chain tasks; Knee; Motor Control; Muscle activity; Patellofemoral pain; Unpredictable perturbations; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi;

    Sammanfattning : Patellofemoral pain (PFP) is believed to be associated with deficits in coordination between the different heads of the quadriceps muscle; however, considerable debate exists in the literature regarding the presence of such a deficit. Discrepancies between studies may be explained by differences in experimental tasks, such as whether the task is performed with open (OKC) or closed kinetic chain (CKC), or whether the activity is voluntary or triggered. 5. 5. Imaging imagining actions

    Författare :CJ Olsson; Lars Nyberg; A.Mark Williams; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mental training; motor training; novices; imaging; athletes; fMRI; internal imagery; motor representation; brain systems; practice; learning; transfer; active; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Mental training has been studied extensively for the past century but we are still not completely sure how it affects brain and behavior. The aim of this doctoral thesis was to examine one aspect of mental training i.e. motor imagery. LÄS MER
