  1. 21. Assistive Devices in Everyday Life for Very Old People - Use, Non-use and Opportunities for Use

    Författare :Marianne Kylberg; Aktivt och hälsosamt åldrande; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; service delivery system; mobility devices; activity and participation; leisure activities; very old men;

    Sammanfattning : The overarching aim of this thesis was to contribute to the existing knowledge on the use of assistive devices in everyday life, by adding the perspective of very old single living people in a European context, namely Latvia and Sweden. The aim was to investigate the socio-demographics and environmental and health aspects that impact on device use in the two national contexts. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Diamond Devices Based on Valley Polarization

    Författare :Nattakarn Suntornwipat; Jan Isberg; Markus Gabrysch; Saman Majdi; Hitoshi Umezawa; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CVD diamond; valleytronics; Negative Differential Mobility; NDM; electron polarization; Time-of-Flight; magnetotransport; carrier transport; drift velocity; valley-transistor; Transferred-Electron Oscillator; TEO; TED; Gunn diode;

    Sammanfattning : Diamond is a wide bandgap semiconductor with extreme properties such as high thermal conductivity, high breakdown field, high carrier mobilities and chemical inertness. These properties together with the possibility to synthesize high purity Single-Crystalline (SC) diamond by Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), make it a very interesting material and a candidate for use in power electronics and in hazardous environments. 3. 23. Mobility Devices in Everyday Life among Very Old Europeans: Aspects of use and changes over time

    Författare :Charlotte Löfqvist; Hållbar vardag och hälsa i ett livsperspektiv; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; assistive technology; Assistive devices; occupational therapy; participation; very old people;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to expand the knowledge regarding the use and need of assistive devices, in particular mobility devices, and to investigate how, from a European perspective, the use of them changed during the ageing process. An additional aim was to explore the use of mobility devices in everyday life among very old Swedish women during a five-year period. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Activity avoidance, perceived walking difficulties, and use of mobility devices in people with Parkinson's disease

    Författare :Manzur Kader; Aktivt och hälsosamt åldrande; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Activity avoidance; Assistive devices; Difficulty walking; Falls; Fear of falling; ICF; mSAFFE; Near falls; Patient outcome assessment; PROM; Psychometrics; Parkinson’s Disease; Reliability; Validity; Walk-12G; Walking aids; Wheelchairs; Wheeled-walker;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic progressive neurodegenerative disease that results in functional loss and disability. People with PD have an increased risk of falling, and most of their falls occur while walking. As yet, there is limited knowledge concerning activity avoidance due to perceived risk of falling in people with PD. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Prosthetic and Orthotic Services in Developing Countries

    Författare :Lina Magnusson; Gerd Ahlström; Malcom MacLachlan; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :Assistive device; Convention of Rights of Persons with Disabilities; disability; low-income countries; mobility; orthosis; prosthesis; satisfaction; QUEST;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to generate further knowledge about prosthetic and orthotic services in developing countries. In particular, the thesis focused on patient mobility and satisfaction with prosthetic and orthotic devices, satisfaction with service delivery, and the views of staff regarding clinical practice and education.
