11. Multiscale Stochastic Simulation of Reaction-Transport Processes : Applications in Molecular Systems Biology
Sammanfattning : Quantitative descriptions of reaction kinetics formulated at the stochastic mesoscopic level are frequently used to study various aspects of regulation and control in models of cellular control systems. For this type of systems, numerical simulation offers a variety of challenges caused by the high dimensionality of the problem and the multiscale properties often displayed by the biochemical model. 12. Downstream effects of master regulators in two brain diseases
Sammanfattning : In paper one, we investigated how the pharmacological activation and inhibition of the glucocorticoid system affects lifespan and symptoms in a mouse model for RTT. We performed a long-term drug treatment study with the GR activator corticosterone and the GR inhibitor RU486 under which we measured the lifespan and onset of RTT-like symptoms of male Mecp2-null and female Mecp2 heterozygous mice in comparison to untreated mutant and to treated and untreated wild-type animals. 13. Cell-matrix interactions : master regulators of cancer cell fate?
Sammanfattning : The development and homeostasis of a multicellular organism require fundamental biological processes like cell proliferation, cell differentiation, cell migration, and controlled cell death. The extracellular matrix (ECM) guides many of these functions, via cell-matrix interactions that function as mechanical and biochemical signaling hubs. LÄS MER
14. Testing palaeomagnetic and 14C based geochronological methods in the Baltic Sea
Sammanfattning : The Baltic Sea is a continental shelf sea that is influenced by both river runoff and marine water. The two water masses are vertically stratified in the Baltic Sea, resulting in a positive, estuarine circulation system, which has undergone changes in the past due to isostatic uplift of the Baltic basin. 15. Processing Methods for Reaching Full Density Powder Metallurgical Materials
Sammanfattning : Powder metallurgy (PM) is one of the most cost effective methods for manufacturing structural components with complex shapes. Utilisation of the metal powder to shape the components allows to minimise material waste and increase energy efficiency. LÄS MER
