11. Non-contact measurements and modelling of milling machine tool vibrations
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the development of non-contact measurement methods and analysis of rotors. The methods have been verified and applied to milling machine spindles in order to investigate the speed dependency in the milling machine spindle dynamic. The research was financed by the Swedish Agency for Innovation Systems (Vinnova). LÄS MER
12. Magnetodynamics of pseudo spin valves investigated using co-planar waveguide and spin torque ferromagnetic resonance techniques
Sammanfattning : Nanocontact spin-torque nano-oscillators (NC-STNOs), based on magnetic multilayers, can generate a wide range of highly nonlinear localized and propagating spin wave modes for use in magnonics. In this thesis, we study some aspects of these structures from the fundamental physics point of view using the spin torque ferromagnetic resonance technique (ST-FMR) and conventional broadband FMR technique. 13. Spatial Mixture Models with Applications in Medical Imaging and Spatial Point Processes
Sammanfattning : Finite mixture models have proven to be a great tool for both modeling non-standard probability distributions and for classification problems (using the latent variable interpretation). In this thesis we are building spatial models by incorporating spatially dependent categorical latent random fields in a hierarchical manner similar to that of finite mixture models. LÄS MER
14. Charge and Spin Transport in Parallel-Coupled Quantum Dots in Nanowires
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores crystal-phase engineering of nanowires to fabricate advanced quantum structures for charge and spin transport studies. Quantum dots formed by crystal-phase tuning during epitaxial growth of InAs nanowires were used as a starting point to realize and electrically characterize two different types of parallel-coupled quantum dots; electron-hole quantum dots and electron-electron quantum dots. 15. Binding of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in soil : effects of solution chemistry, soil properties, and PFAS structure
Sammanfattning : The large environmental mobility and persistence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) along with confirmed or suspected toxicities make the substances one of the great challenges of our time in the fields of chemical management and environmental risk assessment. In order to risk assess PFAS-contaminated sites, improved quantitative and mechanistic understanding of the partitioning and retention in soil is crucial. LÄS MER
