  1. 1. Supporting loose forms of collaboration : Using Linked Data to realize an architecture for collective knowledge construction

    Författare :Hannes Ebner; Marko Turpeinen; Ambjörn Naeve; John Breslin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; linked data; collaboration; information model; contribution; application architecture; web application; web standards; www; open world assumption; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology; Media Technology; Medieteknik; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is driven by the motivation to explore a way of working collaboratively that closely reflects the World Wide Web (WWW), more specifically the potential of the Web architecture built on Semantic Web technologies and Linked Data. The goal is to describe a generic approach and architecture that satisfies the needs for loose collaboration and collective knowledge construction as exemplified by the applications described in this thesis. 2. 2. Multilingual text generation from structured formal representations

    Författare :Dana Dannélls; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coherence; computational linguistics; coreference; corpus linguistics discourse structure; knowledge representation; language technology; lexical semantics; linked open data; multilingual natural language generation; natural language processing; ontology; semantic web.;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to identify the optimal ways in which natural language generation techniques can be brought to bear upon the problem of processing a structured body of information in order to devise a coherent presentation of text content in multiple languages. We investigate how chains of referential expressions are realized in English, Swedish and Hebrew, and suggest several coreference strategies that can be used to generate coherent descriptions about paintings. 3. 3. Methods and Algorithms for Data-Intensive Computing : Streams, Graphs, and Geo-Distribution

    Författare :Hooman Peiro Sajjad; Vladimir Vlassov; Keijo Heljanko; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stream processing; geo-distributed infrastructure; edge computing; streaming graph; dynamic graph; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology; Datalogi; Computer Science;

    Sammanfattning : Struggling with the volume and velocity of Big Data has attracted lots of interest towards stream processing paradigm, a paradigm in the area of data-intensive computing that provides methods and solutions to process data in motion. Today's Big Data includes geo-distributed data sources. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Semantic Web Queries over Scientific Data

    Författare :Andrej Andrejev; Tore Risch; Kjell Orsborn; Ruslan Fomkin; Gerhard Weikum; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RDF; SPARQL; Arrays; Query optimization; Second-order functions; Scientific workflows; Datavetenskap med inriktning mot databasteknik; Computer Science with specialization in Database Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Semantic Web and Linked Open Data provide a potential platform for interoperability of scientific data, offering a flexible model for providing machine-readable and queryable metadata. However, RDF and SPARQL gained limited adoption within the scientific community, mainly due to the lack of support for managing massive numeric data, along with certain other important features – such as extensibility with user-defined functions, query modularity, and integration with existing environments and workflows. 5. 5. Mining Big and Fast Data: Algorithms and Optimizations for Real-Time Data Processing

    Författare :Muhammad Anis Uddin Nasir; Sarunas Girdzijauskas; Marta Patino-Martinez; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stream Processing; Load Balancing; Fully Dynamic Graphs; Real-Time Data Processing; Top-k Densest Subgraph; Frequent Subgraph Mining; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Sammanfattning : In the last decade, real-time data processing has attracted much attention from both academic community and industry, as the meaning of big data has evolved to incorporate as well the speed of data. The massive and rapid production of data comes via numerous services, i.e., Web, social networks, Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile devices. LÄS MER
