  1. 1. Where did the ink go? : The effect of liquid absorption on ink distribution in flexography

    Författare :Sofia Thorman; Li Yang; Magnus Lestelius; Martti Toivakka; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flexographic printing; print mottle; ink trapping; absorbency; absorption non-uniformity; water-interference mottle; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The appearance of a print is affected by the individual ink layers. If the ink is unevenly distributed on the substrate it lowers the quality. This thesis puts focus on how the liquid absorbency of a coated substrate impacts on the ink distribution in flexographic printing. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Ink-paper interaction : a study in ink-jet color reproduction

    Författare :Li Yang; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : An ink jet printing system consists of three fundamental parts: inks, printing engine, and substrates. Inks are materials creating color by selectively absorbing and scattering the visible illumination light. The printer acts as an ink distributor that governs the ink application. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Printability and Ink-Coating Interactions in Inkjet Printing

    Författare :Erik Svanholm; Göran Ström; Gunnar Engström; Janet Preston; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; coating; inkjet; print quality; printability; pigment; silica; polyvinyl alcohol; colorant; ink absorption; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Inkjet is a digital printing process where the ink is ejected directly onto a substrate from a jet device driven by an electronic signal. Most inkjet inks have a low viscosity and a low surface tension, which put high demands on the coating layer’s porosity and absorbency characteristics. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Absorption non-uniformity characterisation and its impact on flexographic ink distribution of coated packaging boards

    Författare :Sofia Thorman; Li Yang; Göran Ström; Magnus Lestelius; Janet Preston; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Liquid absorption; Absorption non-uniformity; Characterisation; Measurement technique; Print Mottle; Flexography; Coated packaging boards; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : There are high demands on flexographic print quality to be sufficiently high and consistent in order to create a competitive packaging. At the same time the production efficiency need to be high. Printers thus need to achieve the same quality every time and quickly start-up new printing jobs. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Wetting and Capillary Flow of Surfactant Solutions and Inks

    Författare :Maria von Bahr; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; AKD; ink-jet printing; paper; penetration; absorption; adsorption; hydrophobicity; nonionic; surfactant; spreading; dynamic wetting;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents results of a series of experimental studies on the spreading dynamics of small drops of complex solutions on solid surfaces. The capillary flow dynamics of complex solutions have also been investigated. LÄS MER
