11. Development of a protein-free fed-batch process for NS0 cells: studies on regulation of proliferation
Sammanfattning : The overall objective of this study was to investigate how NS0 cell proliferation is regulated in protein-free media. The hypothesis was that during the adaptation to growth factor-free media, animal cell lines start to produce their own autocrine growth factors to support proliferation, and after some time in a culture the effects of these factors are lost which results in cessation of proliferation. 12. Functional Imaging of Spinal Locomotor Networks
Sammanfattning : Movement is necessary for the survival of most animals. The spinal cord contains neuronal networks that are capable of motor coordination and of producing different movements. In particular, a very reduced neuronal network in the spinal cord can produce simple rhythmic outputs even in the absence of descending or sensory inputs. LÄS MER
13. Nicotine sensitization and the effects of extended withdrawal - behavioral, neurochemical and electrophysiological studies in the rat
Sammanfattning : Tobacco use is one of the primary factors for global burden of disease and often results in life-long nicotine addiction, only a small percentage users are able to maintain cessation. The life-long addiction together with a high relapse risk might be connected to drug-induced altered neural circuits. LÄS MER
14. Causes and Consequences of Impulsivity in Red Junglefowl
Sammanfattning : Throughout the animal kingdom, animals vary in cognition (i.e., how they acquire, process, store, and act on environmental information). Yet, the causes and consequences of this variation are currently unclear. LÄS MER
15. Pharmacological control of ciliary activity in the young sea urchin larva : cholinergic and monoaminergic effects and the role of calcium and cyclic nucleotides
Sammanfattning : The ciliary activity of the young (prenervous) sea urchin larva, reflected by its swimming intensity, is measured according to a simple method. The changes in ciliary activity from hatching throughout gastrulation commonly show two main peaks coinciding with the two main phases of gastrulation. LÄS MER
