  1. 16. Triggering and inhibitory molecules affecting target cell recognition by NK cells

    Författare :Margarita Salcedo; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :NK cell; MHC class 1; NKinhibitory receptors; costimulatory molecules ISBN 9 1-628-2643-3;

    Sammanfattning : NK cells were described originally for their ability to lyse certain tumor cell lines without prior immunization. MHC class I molecules have been shown to deliver a negative signal to NK cells preventing killing of target cells. This reaction is mediated via specific receptors on NK cells, referred to as KIR in man and Ly49 in mouse. LÄS MER

  2. 17. The Role of Inhibitory Control and Executive Functioning in Hyperactivity/ADHD

    Författare :Lisa Berlin; Erland Hjelmquist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; ADHD; hyperactivity; inhibition; executive functioning; development; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examined inhibition, executive functioning and their possible relation to childhood problems of hyperactivity and inattention, in its clinical form referred to as Attention Deficit Hyper-activity Disorder (ADHD). Concurrent as well as longitudinal relations were of interest, and both clinical and non-clinical samples were studied. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Respiratory activity in medulla oblongata and its modulation by adenosine and opioids

    Författare :Eric Herlenius; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Adenosine; opioids; brainstem; perinatal rat; respiration; medulla oblongata;

    Sammanfattning : From the moment of birth the complex neuronal networks generating breathing has to function continuously and adapt to the new postnatal environmental demands. This thesis aims at studying the perinatal development of respiratory control and its modulation by adenosine and opioids. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Roles of SNAP-25 isoforms in activity-dependent long-term synaptic plasticity

    Författare :Muhammad Irfan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : SNARE proteins, SNAP-25, syntaxin 1A and VAMP2 constitute the functional units which join together to form the core SNARE complex. The SNARE complex carries out the vital function of membrane fusion of intracellular vesicles with plasma membranes, leading to the release of neurotransmitters in brain neuronal circuits and of hormones in endocrine glands. 5. 20. 5-HT1A receptor ligands with putative antidepressant activity : pharmacological studies in the rat

    Författare :Lotta Arborelius; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :antidepressants; citalopram; dopamine; dorsal raphe nucleus; electrophysiology; frontal cortex; 5-HT; A receptors; microdialysis; serotonin; rat;

    Sammanfattning : Several studies suggest that serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT)IA receptor agonists possess antidepressant activity. Probably these agents exert their therapeutic effect through stimulation of postsynaptic 5-HT,A receptors. LÄS MER
