  1. 11. Mitigation of urban storm water runoff through application of computational fluid dynamics

    Författare :Kaj Pettersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microstructure; infiltration; Green roof; CFD; wind-driven rain; building facade.; lattice Boltzmann;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis covers computational methods for improving the ability of green roofs to mitigate storm water runoff in urban environments. Roofs with living vegetation, known as green roofs, have been used for this purpose however quantification of their ability to slow and stop rainfall runoff has not been undertaken to a large degree. 2. 12. Strength and Stability of Interfaces in Cemented Carbides

    Författare :Mikael Christensen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; adhesion; segregation; plastic deformation; microstructure; interfaces; electron structure calculations; cermets; sintering; infiltration; cemented carbides; grain boundaries; cutting tools; density-functional theory; hardmetals; WC-Co; wetting;

    Sammanfattning : Cemented carbides are hard composite materials of great technological importance. They are widely used as tool materials in a large variety of applications where the demands on hardness and toughness are high, including e.g.≈mining, turning, cutting, and milling. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Towards frost damage prediction in asphaltic pavements

    Författare :Lisa Lövqvist; Nicole Kringos; Romain Balieu; Robert Karlsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; frost damage; winter damage; asphalt; pavements; micromechanical model; microstructure; freeze-thaw cycles; finite element model; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Roads are subjected to mechanical loads from the traffic as well as deteriorating mechanisms originating from the surrounding environment and climate. The damage arising is particularly severe during the winter season, when for example raveling, pot holes and cracks can emerge on the surfaces of asphaltic roads. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Climate and geographical influence on the performance of infiltration-based facilities for managing runoff – Temporal and spatial variability

    Författare :Ivan Mantilla; Maria Viklander; Tone Merete Muthanna; Kelsey Flanagan; Vegard Nielsen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Green infrastructure; hydrological performance; infiltration capacity; climatic pattern; saturated hydraulic conductivity; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change is expected to lead to more intense and severe rainfall events in the future, significantly increasing the risk of urban flooding. This change, characterized by spatial and temporal shifts in precipitation patterns, presents a challenge to the capacity of existing urban drainage systems, which may lead to higher runoff volumes than they were initially designed to handle. 5. 15. Matrix metalloproteinases in natural killer cells. Expression of MMPs, IL-2 activation and killer cell interactions with Matrigel® and model tumours

    Författare :Per Albertsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Protease; matrix metalloproteinase; killer cell; IL-2; Matrigel; B16 melanoma; tumour infiltration; invasion assay; zymography; Western blot; RT-PCR; light microscopy; fluorescence; electron microscopy;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: IL-2 activated natural killer (A-NK) cells can recognize malignant cells and exert tumouricidal activities by multiple mechanisms that require close contact with the target cells. Upon adoptive transfer, some A-NK cells accumulate in tumours by migrating from the vascular bed to a position inside the malignant tissue, forming close contacts with target cells. LÄS MER
