21. On-line Mobile in situ Gamma Spectrometry
Sammanfattning : Mobile in situ gamma spectrometry is an important instrument in the emergency preparedness for nuclear accidents. This work contributes through the development of strategies and analysis methods for two applications: an on-line search for gamma-emitting orphan sources and on-line estimation of the depth distribution of 137Cs. 22. Thermal response test : in situ measurements of thermal properties in hard rock
Sammanfattning : In-situ determination of thermal properties in bedrock is important for the sizing of larger BTES systems. In-situ values of thermal conductivity may reduce required borehole length up to 30%. This thesis treats a new mobile thermal response test equipment (TED), developed in Luleå, Sweden, 1995-98. 23. Advanced molecular tools for diagnostic analyses of RNA and antibodies in situ and in solution
Sammanfattning : Advanced molecular diagnostics uses in vitro biological assays to detect nucleic acids or proteins even in low concentrations across samples, allowing for the identification of biomarkers, monitoring the course of the disease over time, and selection of appropriate therapy. In this thesis, I focus on development and early applications of several molecular tools of expected value in research, and eventually also clinically. LÄS MER
24. Remote Measurements of Ship Emissions
Sammanfattning : The combustion of sulphur-containing fossil fuels gives rise to emissions of sulphurdioxide. Nitrogen oxides are also emitted when fuels are burned. The InternationalMaritime Organization (IMO) has ratified regulations regarding Sulphur Fuel Content(SFC) and NOx emissions from the shipping sector. LÄS MER
25. Mechanical behaviour of carbon nanostructures
Sammanfattning : AbstractCarbon nanotubes (CNTs) have extraordinary mechanical and electrical properties. Together with their small dimensions and low density, they are attractive candidates for building blocks in future nanoelectromechanical systems and for many other applications. LÄS MER
