11. Soil identification by vibration measurements during soil-rock sounding
Sammanfattning : Dynamic penetration tests are frequently used as geotechnical site investigation methods. In Sweden, the main reason to choose a dynamic penetration method is to investigatedepth to bedrock, strength and deformation properties of soil, compaction, or pilingdepth. LÄS MER
12. In-situ assessment of timber structures - Assessment methods and case studies
Sammanfattning : In the assessment of timber structures, diagnostic investigations with reference to the condition and structural performance of these structures are necessary and often require appropriate health monitoring techniques. This thesis covers four aspects within the research area of the in-situ assessment of timber structures based on scientific knowledge and guidelines to perform assessment of existing timber structures:IDetermination of density of wood with portable X-rayThe mechanical performance of timber is often strongly related to the density of wood. 13. In-situ Studies of Spontaneous Potential Oscillations during Electrochemical Deposition of Copper and Cuprous Oxide
Sammanfattning : Self-oscillating behaviour in alkaline Cu(II)-lactate and -tartrate systems has been investigated by in-situ pH and confocal Raman spectroscopy measurements. Formation of Cu(II)-lactate and -tartrate complexes is a key factor underlying the self-oscillations. LÄS MER
14. In situ X-Ray Spectroscopy of Ethylene Epoxidation over Ag and studies of Li-ion batteries and Cu sulfidation
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on experiments applying synchrotron based X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy(XAS) and Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering (RIXS) in the soft X-ray region to energy related systems. The main work of this thesis has been to develop a reaction cell that allowed for in situ XAS and RIXS investigations of the partial epoxidation of ethylene over a Ag catalyst at 1 atm and up to 250C. 15. Studies on the Gamma Radiation Environment in Sweden with Special Reference to 137Cs
Sammanfattning : Gamma radiation in the environment today mainly originates from naturally occurring radionuclides, but anthropogenic radionuclides, such as 137Cs, contribute in some areas. In order to assess population exposure in case of fallout from nuclear weapons (NWF) or accidents, knowledge and monitoring of external gamma radiation and radionuclide concentrations in the environment is important.
