  1. 26. Characterization of Genetic Abnormalities at Disease Progression of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

    Författare :Aikaterini Barbouti; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; fluorescent in situ hybridization; low-copy repeats; isochromosome 17q; MSI2 HOXA9; ETV6 ABL1; BCR ABL1; chronic myeloid leukemia; blast crisis; molecular genetics; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative disorder associated with the translocation t(9;22)(q34;q11) and progresses from a relatively indolent chronic phase (CP) to an accelerated phase (AP) and finally to the more aggressive blast crisis (BC). The general aim of this thesis was to identify and characterize genetic abnormalities occurring at disease progression of CML using molecular cytogenetic, molecular genetic, and bioinformatic analyses. 2. 27. Molecular Cytogenetics in Sporadic Breast Cancer

    Författare :Karin Rennstam; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; onkologi; oncology; Cytology; Cytologi; cancer; gene expression; gene amplification; tumor development; cDNA microarray; fluorescence in situ hybridization FISH ; breast cancer; comparative genomic hybridization CGH ; cancerology; ERBB2;

    Sammanfattning : In recent time breast cancer has become the most common form of female cancer in the western world. It has been estimated that the lifetime risk of women falling ill from the disease is 10%. The number of patients diagnosed each year has been increasing steadily since the 1970s. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Assessing the ERG rearrangement for clinincal use in patients with prostrate cancer

    Författare :Maria Svensson; Ove Andrén; Swen-Olof Andersson; Fredrik Enlund; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; prognosis; biomarkers; ETS genes; ERG rearrangement; fluoroscence in situ hybridization; Medicine; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : In Sweden, close to 10 000 men are annually diagnosed with prostate cancer (PCa) and approximately 2400 men die of their disease each year. Today there is no reliable marker that can separate patients who will have an aggressive type of disease that requires treatment, from patients who will have a more indolent clinical course and can be left untreated. 4. 29. Targeted disruption and subcellular distribution of phospholipase C 3

    Författare :Shu Wang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Phosphoinositide specific phospholipase C; sequencing; fluorescence in situ hybridization; gene targeting; earlyembryonic development; electron microscopy; secretory granules; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Internal Medicine; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Phosphatidylinositol specific phospholipase C (PLC) isoforms are key enzymes in the signal transduction pathway that control many cellular processes including cell proliferation, hormone secretion and egg fertilization. The PLCβ3 gene, assigned to the multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) locus, has been implicated in endocrine tumorigenesis due to the low expression in several endocrine tumors. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Fluorescence in situ hybridization for the detection of genetic alterations in prostate and bladder malignancies : significance as a genetic marker to predict the patient prognosis

    Författare :Hideyasu Matsuyama; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :prostate cancer bladder cancer tumor suppressor gene chromosomal deletion chromosome 8p; chromosome lOq chromosome 16q; fluorescence in situ hybridization Prostate cancer and bladder cancer are common urological malignancies in man; while a lack of;

    Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer and bladder cancer are common urological malignancies in man, while a lack of basic information underlying the oncogenesis and the tumor progression makes it difficult to form therapeutic strategies against these malignancies. Recent advances of molecular biology revealed that genetic alteration play a crucial role in the oncogenesis and progression of these tumors. LÄS MER
