  1. 1. Assessing the ERG rearrangement for clinincal use in patients with prostrate cancer

    Författare :Maria Svensson; Ove Andrén; Swen-Olof Andersson; Fredrik Enlund; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; prognosis; biomarkers; ETS genes; ERG rearrangement; fluoroscence in situ hybridization; Medicine; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : In Sweden, close to 10 000 men are annually diagnosed with prostate cancer (PCa) and approximately 2400 men die of their disease each year. Today there is no reliable marker that can separate patients who will have an aggressive type of disease that requires treatment, from patients who will have a more indolent clinical course and can be left untreated. 2. 2. The acidic domain, the human version and the protein interaction of the ETS transcription factor SPI-C

    Författare :Robert Carlsson; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; Immunology; B-lymphocyte; phylogeny; STAT6; SPI-C; transcription;

    Sammanfattning : Primary infections and vaccination stimulates the immunesystem to produce memory cells that rapidly respond to reexposure of the same antigen. These memory responses are dependent on an adaptive type of immunity that sustains the reactivity of the immune system by long-lived memory immune cells. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Pharmacogenetics of drug metabolizing enzymes with special emphasis on Ethiopians

    Författare :Eleni Aklillu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Drug metabolism; gene duplication; CYP2D6; CYP2C19; CYP2C9; CYP1B1; CYP1A2; genotyping; xanthine oxidase; ultrarapid metabolizers; polymorphism; caffeine; Ets; dietary selection.;

    Sammanfattning : Pharmacogenetics of drug metabolising enzymes has been well studied in Caucasians and Asians, but relatively little in Africans. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the molecular genetics of drug metabolising enzymes, in particular CYP2D6, CYP2C19, CYP2C9, CYP1B1, CYP1A2 and XO, with special emphasis on the Ethiopian population. 4. 4. Cell fate specification by Ras-mediated cell signalling in C. elegans

    Författare :Teresa Tiensuu; Simon Tuck; Benjamin Podbilewicz; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; cell signalling; Ras; vulva precursor cell; lin-25; sur-2; lin-1; cell fate specification; Mediator; vulva induction; transcriptional regulation; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Induction of vulval fates in the C. elegans hermaphrodite is mediated by a conserved RTK/Ras/MAP kinase signalling pathway, in which the core components can be placed into a linear genetic and biochemical pathway. However, the events that occur downstream of this pathway are not yet well understood. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Defence and signalling in Potato-Phytophthora infestans interactions

    Författare :Ashfaq Ali; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phytophthora infestans; Plant defence; hypersensitive response; resistance; susceptibility;

    Sammanfattning : Potato is one of the major food crops and its yield is severely affected by late blight disease caused by Phytophthora infestans. P. infestans has the ability to manipulate plant defence signalling by secreting effector molecules causing so called effector triggered susceptibility. LÄS MER
