  1. 26. Fate of Cu, Cr, As and some other trace elements during combustion of recovered waste fuels

    Författare :Karin Lundholm; Anders Nordin; Britt-Marie Steenari; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; combustion; chemical equilibrium model calculations; trace elements; impregnated wood; waste; thermodynamic data; Cu; Cr; As; Other chemistry; Övrig kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The increased use of biomass and recovered waste fuels in favor of fossil fuels for heat and power production is an important step towards a sustainable future. Combustion of waste fuels also offers several advantages over traditional landfilling, such as substantial volume reduction, detoxification of pathological wastes, and reduction of toxic leaches and greenhouse gas (methane) formation from landfills. 2. 27. Modeling Solute Transport in Fractured Rocks-Role of Heterogeneity, Stagnant Water Zone and Decay Chain

    Författare :Batoul Mahmoudzadeh; Longcheng Liu; Joaquin Martinez; Lanru Jing; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solute transport model; Fractured rock; Stagnant water zone; Rock matrix diffusion; Radionuclide decay chain; Geological layers; Laplace transform; Simulation;

    Sammanfattning : A model is developed to describe solute transport and retention in fractured rocks. It accounts for the fact that solutes not only can diffuse directly from the flowing channel into the adjacent rock matrix composed of different geological layers but can also at first diffuse into the stagnant water zone occupied in part of the fracture and then from there into the rock matrix adjacent to it. 3. 28. PET in Heart Failure - Methods and Applications

    Författare :Jens Sörensen; Göran Hedenstierna; Elisabeth Ståhle; Bengt Långström; Juhani Knuuti; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; congestive heart failure; myocardial ischemia; positron emission tomography; left ventricular dysfunction; tracer kinetic models; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Positron Emission Tomography (PET) permits regional myocardial perfusion, fibrosis and oxidative metabolism to be non-invasively quantified with radioactive tracers such as [15O]-water and [1-11C]-acetate. PET is an established research tool in congestive heart failure (CHF), a major cause of morbidity and mortality. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Analysis of Degradation Products from Wood and Methods for Detoxification of Lignocellulose Hydrolysates

    Författare :Per Persson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; galactoglucomannan; mass spectrometry; liquid chromatography; sugar degradation; detoxification; fermentation inhibitors; lignocellulose hydrolysates; Ethanol production; softwood; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; countercurrent supercritical fluid extraction;

    Sammanfattning : In order to produce fuel ethanol from lignocellulose, it is necessary to hydrolyse the sugar-containing constituents hemicellulose and cellulose. During acid hydrolysis, a number of compounds are formed or liberated in addition to the fermentable monomeric sugars. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Anaerobic digestion of crop and waste biomass: Impact of feedstock characteristics on process performance

    Författare :Nges Ivo Achu; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Anaerobic digestion; Biofertilizer; Renewable energy; Sustainable operation;

    Sammanfattning : Anaerobic digestion provides an array of positive environmental benefits such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, replacing mineral fertilizers, producing renewable energy and treating waste. However, pitfalls in anaerobic digestion such as poor methane yields, process instability, process failure and regional shortages of feedstock have limited the full exploitation of the anaerobic digestion process.
