  3. 3. Modeling Solute Transport in Fractured Rocks-Role of Heterogeneity, Stagnant Water Zone and Decay Chain

    Författare :Batoul Mahmoudzadeh; Longcheng Liu; Joaquin Martinez; Lanru Jing; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solute transport model; Fractured rock; Stagnant water zone; Rock matrix diffusion; Radionuclide decay chain; Geological layers; Laplace transform; Simulation;

    Sammanfattning : A model is developed to describe solute transport and retention in fractured rocks. It accounts for the fact that solutes not only can diffuse directly from the flowing channel into the adjacent rock matrix composed of different geological layers but can also at first diffuse into the stagnant water zone occupied in part of the fracture and then from there into the rock matrix adjacent to it. 4. 4. Hydrodynamic control of retention in heterogeneous aquifers and fractured rock

    Författare :Hua Cheng; Vladimir Cvetkovic; Chin-Fu Tsang; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aquifer; Fracture; groundwater; First-order solution; Monte-Carlo simulation; Nu-clear waste; Heterogeneity; Retention processes; Matrix diffusion; Prediction; Evaluation; Travel time; Flow rate; ; Water engineering; Vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, fluid flow and solute transport in heterogeneous aquifers and particularly in frac-tured rock have been investigated using Lagrangian Stochastic Advective-Reaction (LaSAR) framework. The heterogeneity of the aquifer structure or fracture configuration, as well as the various reaction/retention processes have been considered in the modelling approach. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Heterogeneity-Induced Channelling, Flow-Wetted Surface, and Modelling of Transport in Fractured Rock

    Författare :Martin Larsson; Auli Niemi; Chin-Fu Tsang; VLADIMIR CVETKOVIC; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; channelling; flow-wetted surface; fractured rock; solute transport; groundwater modelling; groundwater; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Heterogeneities in fractured rock are found at all scales; from the scale of individual fractures, to the scale of fracture networks, and to the largest regional scales. These heterogeneities cause challenges for modelling and parameter estimation of flow and solute transport. LÄS MER
