12. Enabling Solutions for Integration and Interconnectivity in Millimeter-wave and Terahertz Systems
Sammanfattning : Recently, Terahertz (THz) systems have witnessed increasing attention due to the continuous need for high data rate transmission which is mainly driven by next-generation telecommunication and imaging systems. In that regard, the THz range emerged as a potential domain suitable for realizing such systems by providing a wide bandwidth capable of achieving and meeting the market requirements. LÄS MER
13. 3D Magnetic Photonic Crystals : Synthesis and Characterization
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the synthesis methods and the characterizations of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles, silica spheres with Fe3O4 nanoparticles embedded, and three dimensional magnetic photonic crystals (MPCs) prepared from the spheres. The structure, material composition, magnetic and optical properties, photonic band gaps (PBGs), as well as how these properties depend on the concentration of the magnetic nanoparticles, are investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID), Faraday rotation (FR) and optical spectrophotometers. 14. Innovative Contact Free Sensors for Metallurgical Process Control
Sammanfattning : The steel- and metal industry has an extensive production processing comprising many different process steps of solid, gaseous and liquid nature. Thus it is obvious that a number of different measurement technologies must be used to collect and evaluate key physical parameters which are necessary to control the production processes. LÄS MER
15. Analysis and Design of Low-Phase-Noise Integrated Voltage-Controlled Oscillators for Wide-Band RF Front-Ends
Sammanfattning : The explosive development of wireless communication services creates a demand for more flexible and cost-effective communication systems that offer higher data rates. The obvious trend towards small-size and ultra low power systems, in combination with the ever increasing number of applications integrated in a single portable device, tightens the design constraints at hardware and software level.
