  1. 1. Numerical simulation of non-Newtonian fluids flow over surfaces

    Författare :Kazem Bazesefidpar; Outi Tammisola; Luca Brandt; Shahriar Afkhami; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; dynamic wetting; viscoelasticity; non-Newtonian fluids; contact- angle hysteresis; droplet spreading; self-propelled jumping; dynamisk vätning; viskoelasticitet; icke-Newtonska vätskor; kontaktlinjehysteres; dropparnas spridning på ytor; spontan hoppning av droppar från ytor; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Wetting of surfaces by droplets of non-Newtonian fluids is important for various industrial and natural processes such as coating and cleaning of surfaces and inkjet printing, to name a few. Viscoelastic fluids are compounds of a very small amount of polymers and solvent. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Interfacial behaviour of surfactants and enzymes: studies at model surfaces

    Författare :Olaspers Jonny Eriksson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface and boundary layery chemistry; gränsskikt; enzymatic degradation; cellulase; model film; cellulose; QCM; ellipsometry; surfactant; three-phase contact line; adsorption; wetting; Ytkemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents results from experimental studies of the interfacial behaviour of surfactants and enzymes at model surfaces. The main technique used throughout the work was ellipsometry. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Formation and properties of polyelectrolyte multilayers on wood fibres : influence on paper strength and fibre wettability

    Författare :Rikard Lingström; Lars Wågberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polyelectrolyte; multilayer; adsorption; reflectance; contact angle; dynamics; paper; mechanical properties; individual; wood fibre; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The work in this licentiate thesis examines the adsorption of polyelectrolyte multilayers (PEM) onto wood fibres as a new way to influence the properties of the fibre surfaces and hence the fibres. Fundamental aspects of PEM formation on wood fibres have been studied, and discussed in terms of paper strength and wood fibre wettability. LÄS MER
