1. Supersymmetry vis-à-vis Observation : Dark Matter Constraints, Global Fits and Statistical Issues
Sammanfattning : Weak-scale supersymmetry is one of the most favoured theories beyond the Standard Model of particle physics that elegantly solves various theoretical and observational problems in both particle physics and cosmology. In this thesis, I describe the theoretical foundations of supersymmetry, issues that it can address and concrete supersymmetric models that are widely used in phenomenological studies. LÄS MER
2. Development and testing af an observation-based method to assess person-centeredness in healthcare
Sammanfattning : Person-centred care (PCC) has been designated and endorsed as a core competency needed for health care professionals (HCP) to meet the evolving challenges facing health care. The aim of this thesis was to develop and test an observation-based method for assessing clinician competency in the delivery of PCC. LÄS MER
3. Efficient strategies for collecting posture data using observation and direct measurement
Sammanfattning : Relationships between occupational physical exposures and risks of contracting musculoskeletal disorders are still not well understood; exposure-response relationships are scarce in the musculoskeletal epidemiology literature, and many epidemiological studies, including intervention studies, fail to reach conclusive results. Insufficient exposure assessment has been pointed out as a possible explanation for this deficiency. LÄS MER
4. Ergonomics risk assessment methods for creating healthy work environments
Sammanfattning : Risk assessments of ergonomic conditions in pre-production and in field are necessary to prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders and to increase productivity and quality. Methods for such assessments include simulations, direct measurements and observations. LÄS MER
5. Prevention of surgical site infections after lower extremity bypass procedures
Sammanfattning : Abstract: Surgical site infections (SSIs) are a common cause of morbidity following open vascular surgery. Numerous randomized controlled trials (RCTs), along with systematic reviews and meta-analyses of RCTs, have been conducted to compare incisional negative pressure wound therapy (iNPWT) with standard wound dressings above sutured incisions in the inguinal region.
