  1. 6. Perioperative Myocardial Damage and Morbidity after Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

    Författare :Johnny Steuer; Elisabeth Ståhle; Bertil Lindahl; Gunnar Engström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; coronary surgery; creatine kinase; magnetic resonance imaging; morbidity; mortality; perioperative myocardial infarction; troponin; women; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this project were to investigate the impact of perioperative myocardial damage on morbidity and mortality after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), to determine whether biochemical marker levels after CABG correlate to perioperative myocardial infarct size, and to assess the long-term morbidity after CABG, in particular to determine whether women do worse.The studies were conducted in patients who had undergone isolated, primary CABG. 2. 7. No touch vein harvesting technique for coronary artery by-pass surgery : impact on patency rate, development of atheroscleosis, left ventricular function and clinical outcome during 16 years follow-up

    Författare :Benny Johansson; Eva Swahn; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atherosclerosis; coronary artery disease; coronary artery bypass grafting; vein grafts; no touch vein harvesting technique; intravascular ultrasound; echocardiography; clinical outcome; revascularization; outcome analysis; angina pectoris; myocardial infarction; mortality; randomized trial; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis was based on a prospective randomized trial which was started in 1993 to compare the no touch (NT) with the conventional (C) technique of saphenous vein harvesting for CABG.In paper I, was demonstrated superior patency for the NT grafts at short-term (1.5 years; 95,6% vs 89%; p < 0,05) and long-term follow-up (8. 3. 8. Clinically-driven angiography after coronary artery bypass surgery : Results from the SWEDEHEART registry

    Författare :Mikael Janiec; Rickard Lindblom; Stefan Thelin; Alexander Wahba; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CABG; Coronary artery bypass surgery; angiography; graft failure; Thorax Surgery; Thoraxkirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : The success of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) arguably depends on the patency rate of the conduits. The saphenous vein grafts (SVGs) most often used are subject to graft disease and their reduced long-term patency compared to left internal mammary artery (IMA) grafts is well established. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Conduits in coronary artery bypass grafting surgery : Saphenous vein, radial and internal thoracic arteries

    Författare :Mats Dreifaldt; Domingos Souza; Lars Norgren; Mats G. Karlsson; Michael R. Dashwood; Anders Jeppson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiac surgery; Coronary artery bypass; Saphenous vein; Radial artery; Internal thoracic artery; Vasa vasorum; Nitric oxide; Graft patency; Medicine; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : A novel technique for saphenous vein (SV) graft harvesting, the No-touch technique (NT), has been developed at the Dept. of Cardiovascular surgery, Örebro University hospital. With NT the SV is harvested with a pedicle of surrounding tissue. This avoids graft spasm and eliminates the need for distension. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Harvesting of Saphenous Vein for Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting : An Improved Technique that Maintains Vein Wall Integrity and Provides a High Early Patency Rate

    Författare :Domingos Souza; Kjell Rådegran; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Saphenous vein; coronary bypass; endothelium; nitric oxide; patency rate; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Thoracic and Cardivascular Suregery; kirurgi; särskilt thoraxkirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : The primary aim of this thesis was to modify saphenous vein (SV) harvesting technique and evaluate its clinical importance. A new "no touch" (NT) technique of SV preparation was developed where the vein is harvested with a pedicle of surrounding tissue, which protects the vein from spasm therefore obviating the need for distension.
