  1. 16. Predictive markers for tamoxifen response in primary breast cancer

    Författare :Maria Stendahl; Malmö Patologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; General pathology; Cytologi; onkologi; prognosis; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; predictive marker; p27; cyclin D1; tamoxifen; PR; breast cancer; ER; pathological anatomy; Patologi allmän ; patologisk anatomi;

    Sammanfattning : It is well-known that a majority of breast cancers are hormone-dependent, making endocrine therapy an important adjuvant treatment after surgery. Susceptibility to endocrine treatment is determined by the presence of estrogen receptors (ER) and progesterone receptors (PR) in the tumors. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Body Protein and its Change in Patients During Anti-Tumor Treatment

    Författare :Lianna Kadar; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cytology; Gastrointestinal tumors; Breast cancer; Lung cancer; Prognosis; Body protein; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study was to investigate how total body protein and its fraction of body weight (body protein fraction) change in cancer patients during different anti-tumor treatments, and to see if these changes have any clinical significance in the form of prognostic value or correlation with disease course and tumor response. In 84 patients, 28 with lung cancer, 24 with gastrointestinal tumors, 30 with breast cancer, 1 with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and 1 with kidney cancer, the total amount of body nitrogen was measured using an in vivo prompt gamma neutron activation technique. 3. 18. Informational support for patients with gynaecological cancer and their families

    Författare :Maria Carlsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Gynaecological cancer; patient; family; information; education; support; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; onkologi; MEDICINE;

    Sammanfattning : The main purpose of the present thesis was to gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of the informational need by women with gynaecological cancer and their families. The studies evaluate the experience of different kind of information giving; a telephone-help line; a 3 years educational group support programme; and information givings in ordinary care. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Exercise in patients with cancer : Effects on health-related quality of life, costs, and cost-effectiveness during oncological treatment

    Författare :Anna-Karin Ax; Sussanne Börjeson; Birgitta Johansson; Karin Nordin; Yvonne Wengström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cancer; Exercise; Health-Related Quality of Life; Cost-Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Short and long-term side effects of oncological treatment negatively affect daily living and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patient with cancer. Exercise during treatment is beneficial for HRQoL, however evidence as to what exercise intensity is most optimal for improving HRQoL and cost-effectiveness is lacking. LÄS MER

  5. 20. The proteasome as a target for cancer therapy

    Författare :Peter Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cancer; Cell viability assay; Chemotherapy; Drug repurposing; Genomic and transcriptomic signatures; Prognostic biomarkers; Proteasome; Proteasome genes; Proteasome inhibitors; Drug sensitivity biomarkers; Synergistic effect; Triple-negative breast cancer;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective of this PhD thesis was to evaluate the significance of proteasome genes as prognostic markers for different cancer types and identify specific cancer forms that respond to proteasome inhibition. The proteasome (PSM) plays an important role in maintaining cellular proteostasis and degrades the majority of proteins that require breakdown in the cell. LÄS MER
