  1. 1. MicroRNA and energy metabolism in gastrointestinal tumors

    Författare :Wen-Kuan Huang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : MicroRNAs (miRNAs) contribute to cancer development and drug resistance via cellular biological processes, including metabolic pathways. Energy metabolism plays a significant role to maintain tumor proliferation in gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. However, the roles of miRNAs and energy metabolism in GI cancers are not fully understood. 2. 2. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors. Pathogenetic mechanisms, phenotypic characterization and prognosis

    Författare :Johanna Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :Gastrointestinal stromal tumor GIST ; neurofibromatosis type I NF1 ; mutation; prognosis; denaturating high performance liquid chromatography dHPLC ; sequencing; KIT; PDGFRA; NF1;

    Sammanfattning : Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), the most common non-epithelial neoplasm of the gastrointestinal tract, has historically been problematic both conceptually and clinically. Recently, GIST has been shown to share phenotypic features with the interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC), including the almost uniform expression of the tyrosine kinase receptor KIT. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Vesicle proteins as markers for neuroendocrine tumors

    Författare :Anne-Marie Levin Jakobsen; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :; Neuroendocrine tumours; gastrointestinal tract; pancreas; adrenal; vesicle proteins; SV2; NESP55; VMAT1; VMAT2; MIBG;

    Sammanfattning : The neuroendocrine (NE) tumours comprise a diversity of tumours which share commonproperties, e.g. the capacity to produce, store and release hormones. A prominent feature ofthe NE phenotype is the production of secretory granules with associated vescicle proteins,e. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Body Protein and its Change in Patients During Anti-Tumor Treatment

    Författare :Lianna Kadar; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cytology; Gastrointestinal tumors; Breast cancer; Lung cancer; Prognosis; Body protein; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study was to investigate how total body protein and its fraction of body weight (body protein fraction) change in cancer patients during different anti-tumor treatments, and to see if these changes have any clinical significance in the form of prognostic value or correlation with disease course and tumor response. In 84 patients, 28 with lung cancer, 24 with gastrointestinal tumors, 30 with breast cancer, 1 with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and 1 with kidney cancer, the total amount of body nitrogen was measured using an in vivo prompt gamma neutron activation technique. 5. 5. Novel aspects of the molecular biology of gastrointestinal stromal tumors

    Författare :Erik Berglund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : The gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) is the most common mesenchymal tumor in the gastrointestinal tract (GI). Historically, these tumors were commonly mistaken for myogenic and neurogenic masses, and then eventually came to be recognized as a distinct type of soft-tissue sarcoma through ultrastructural findings and specific immunomarkers.
