41. Experimental study of a Volatiles Distributor for Improving the Cross-sectional Gas Distribution in Fluidized Beds
Sammanfattning : Chemical looping combustion (CLC) is a promising carbon capture technology due to its inherent CO2 separation. Significant progress has been made in CLC of solid fuels in recent years. LÄS MER
42. Towards membrane engineering as a tool in cell factory design: A case study on acetic acid tolerance in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Sammanfattning : The sustainable production of fuels, chemicals, and materials using renewable resources is a necessity if we are to reduce our ecological footprint and the rate of climate change. Lignocellulosic biomass, the major constituent of plant cell walls, is a renewable raw material with great potential due to its high abundance. LÄS MER
43. Developing the anaerobic digestion process through technology integration
Sammanfattning : Process optimization is needed for the development and expansion of the biogas industry and to meet the ever growing demand for methane. This thesis explores process technologies for the development of the anaerobic digestion process and includes pre-treatments, studies on the effects of different mixing modes and evaluation of a water treatment technology. 44. Solid Fuel Conversion in Dual Fluidized Bed Gasification - Modelling and Experiments
Sammanfattning : Dual fluidized bed gasification (DFBG) is the initial step towards the transformation of ligno-cellulosic materials into a raw gas, which can be further upgraded into transportation fuels, such as substitute natural gas, Fischer-Tropsch diesel, dimethyl ether, and methanol. DFBG units can be operated in two distinctly different ways, depending on whether the main product is a gas (to be refined into a transportation fuel) or heat and power (with gas as a by-product). 45. Aspects of Ash Transformations in Pressurised Entrained-Flow Gasification of Woody Biomass : Pilot-scale studies
Sammanfattning : Pressurised entrained-flow gasification (PEFG) of woody biomass has the potential to produce high purity syngas for the production of vital chemicals, e.g., biofuels. However, ash-related issues such as reactor blockages and refractory corrosion need to be addressed before this potential can be realised from a technical perspective. LÄS MER
