26. Lipid production from lignocellulosic material by oleaginous yeasts
Sammanfattning : Oleaginous yeasts are a potential lipid source for production of fuels, chemicals and food or feed and use of lignocellulosic biomass as feedstock is considered a sustainable approach. Pre-treatment of lignocellulose is required to release the major carbon sources, glucose, xylose and other sugars for lipid production by oleaginous yeasts, but also releases inhibitory compounds. 27. Understanding and improving microbial cell factories through Large Scale Data-approaches
Sammanfattning : Since the advent of high-throughput genome sequencing methods in the mid-2000s, molecular biology has rapidly transitioned towards data-intensive science. Recent technological developments have increased the accessibility of omics experiments by decreasing the cost, while the concurrent design of new algorithms have improved the computational work-flow needed to analyse the large datasets generated. 28. Combined production of edible mushrooms and biofuels from lignocellulosic residues
Sammanfattning : Forest residues, wood-processing by-products and other lignocellulosic materials are promising renewable resources for bioconversion to advanced biofuels such as cellulosic ethanol. Increased production of biofuels from lignocellulosic materials would allow reducing environmental problems caused by the use of fossil resources while supporting development of bioeconomy. LÄS MER
29. Decision-making and decision support connected to biogas use in Sweden
Sammanfattning : Human activities cause many sustainability challenges in the world, which need to be dealt with. One way to decrease the negative impacts related to those challenges is by replacing currently dominating technologies with better, alternative technologies. LÄS MER
30. Virus inactivation : evaluation of processes used in biowaste management
Sammanfattning : Animal by-products (ABP) Category 3 includes hatchery waste, and also slaughterhouse waste and manure, aimed for use in biogas production. In order to be used as fertilisers, they must be sanitised to reduce pathogenic microorganisms. The initial European regulations regarding processing standards for ABP intended for use in e.g. LÄS MER
