  1. 16. Reproductive Factors and Breast Cancer - Parity, Breastfeeding and Genetic Predisposition in Relation to Risk and Prognosis

    Författare :Salma Butt; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; subgroups; stage; survival; Breast cancer risk; parity; nulliparity; multiparity; breastfeeding; age at first birth; single nucleotide polymophisms;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study reproductive factors and genetic polymorphisms in relation to breast cancer risk and survival. An important component of this was to investigate the risk of specific breast cancer subgroups. LÄS MER

  2. 17. The Complex Genetics behind Neurodegeneration and Susceptibility to Parkinson’s disease

    Författare :Michael Jewett; Translationell Neurogenetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Parkinson’s Disease; α-synuclein; Dopaminergic Neurons; Susceptibility; GSTA4; Vra1; rAAV; 6-OHDA; En1; Linkage analysis; Congenic strains; Axonal swellings; QTL; Risk factors; Neuroprotection; Astrocytes;

    Sammanfattning : Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder and affects over 1% of people above the age of 65. This progressive and debilitating disease is usually thought of as a motor disease, with symptoms such as muscle rigidity, slowness of movement, and tremor at rest. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Enhancing prediction and causal inference in metabolic dyshomeostasis

    Författare :Naeimeh Atabaki Pasdar; Genetisk och molekylär epidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on two globally prevalent diseases: i) non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and ii) type 2 diabetes (T2D), with an overall aim of improving prediction and causal inference in the context of these conditions. Our projects were mainly conducted using IMI DIRECT and UK Biobank datasets including multi-omics data, extensive environmental exposures, and biological intermediates. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Placental molecular mechanisms as pathways linking prenatal exposure to ambient air pollution to preeclampsia and fetal growth

    Författare :Yumjirmaa Mandakh; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Preeclampsia; Ambient air pollution; placenta; Small-for-gestational age; mitochondrial DNA content; telomere length; global DNA methylation; gene expression; epigenetic age;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Preeclampsia (PE) is a “multifactorial syndrome” in which ambient air pollution may contribute to the etiology of PE. However, the underlying mechanism of this association is not clearly elucidated. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Circulatory Failure and Outcome in Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest

    Författare :Joachim Düring; Lund Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiac Arrest; Out-of hospital cardiac arrest; Circulatory failure; Survival; Copeptin; Lactate; Temperature management;

    Sammanfattning : Circulatory failure is considered one of the entities of the post cardiac arrest syndrome contributing to poor outcome. It is reported at 15-70% of all patients successfully resuscitated from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). LÄS MER
