16. Development and Application of Rotational Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy and Laser-induced Fluorescence for Combustion Diagnostics
Sammanfattning : The thesis concerns the development and application of two laser-based methods for combustion diagnostics: dual broadband rotational coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) and laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). In efforts to increase the usefulness of the CARS technique, the applicability of a method involving a combination of the rotational CARS technique and the closely related vibrational CARS technique was investigated. 17. Laser-Induced Emission Techniques for Concentration and Temperature Probing in Combustion
Sammanfattning : The work in this thesis is aimed at the development of temperature and gas concentration measurement techniques in laser diagnostics for use in combustion research. The techniques are developed as tools for the combustion community to meet future demands on combustion efficiency and legislation of exhaust gases. LÄS MER

19. Laser Diagnostics for Applications to In-Cylinder Engine Investigations
Sammanfattning : In the work presented in the thesis laser diagnostics was employed primarily in the investigation of engines, but was also used to study soot in flames. Quantitative measurements were performed for visualizing both in-cylinder soot formation and DME sprays in a combustion vessel. LÄS MER
20. Laser-Driven Particle Acceleration - Improving Performance Through Smart Target Design
Sammanfattning : Laser-driven particle acceleration makes use of sub-picosecond, pulsed, high-power laser systems, capable of producing intensities ~10^{19} W/cm^2 at the laser focus to form plasmas, and use ultra-relativistic and nonlinear dynamics to produce quasistatic acceleration fields. This allows electrons to be accelerated to ~100 MeV over sub-centimetre distances, while protons may be accelerated to the ~10 MeV regime. LÄS MER
